Hi all, Today I am goin' to introduce the terms OverClockin' and UnderClockin' for newbies . Overclocking and underclocking are opposite processes .
OverClock
________________
Overclocking*is the process of making a*device*operate faster than the clock frequency specified by the manufacturer by modifying system parameters (hence the name "overclocking").

¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤

Over clocking of android device may increase the speed (speed of cpu) of device by using more voltage at higher freequencies .

Consequences
i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i

¤ Increase the speed of device

¤ More battery consume .

¤ More Heat produce .

¤ Risk of damage of hardware due to more heat .

Some manufacturers overclock devices to improve the speed of devuce .

Underclocking
___________________

It is the reverse process of overclocking .

Consequences
i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i
¤ Increase battery life .

¤ Decrease speed (system becomes too laggy) .

¤ Decrease the Heat of device .

i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i
Note :- Installing process of New/Custom Kernals may change the Freequency .

How about default, wouldn't it be considered a mix of two. i wonder how the manufacturers determines what should be the default value. maybe they measure it based on temps?

Ever thought about overclocking + undervolting and selecting the right scheduler/governour for your needs???!!

Its is based on the processing chip, i.e Qualcomm's Snapdragon, TI-Omap, ext.
