Then i do hope they release a stable 8.1 for us because OP3T is still within the 2 year update deadline so i am hopeful. Once they confirm there is no 8.1 OOS happening for OP3, i guess i'll finally resort to custom ROMs then.

i heard a little while ago that op3 is not getting 8.1 but its going straight to 9 pie and that was a post on google i came across about 2 weeks ago here you go https://9to5google.com/2018/07/30/oneplus-3t-android-p-update-confirmed/

Download the full zip of OOS 5.0.5 and flash it on to your phone via adb sideload command or directly flash it through twrp.
Be sure to backup all of your apps, contacts and related data as it will get wiped

yes you can.. download the full zip of the ROM you want. Use "adb sideload zip name" command to flash it while putting the phone in recovery/sideload mode.
