It's late in the night and I just finished to move my p20 pro (clt-l04) to android 10.0.0.159.

Screenshots:

I will post more about it later. This was made using Hisuite Proxy and Hisuite + team-mt database.

Note: version say CLT-AL00 (china) but the phone is identified as a CLT-L04.

Seen as a CLT-L04 too with Hisuite after the upgrade.

Edit: Done with the bootloader locked.

My only issue I had is with Google Pay, was fixed by clearing the cache of the app.

EMUI 10 (Android 10) is really looking good in many aspects. No more screen lagging.

To my eyes there is some improvements about the camera. Performances wise, it's a lot better that v9.1 in some aspects.

Note: this build is not certified by Google right now. So Google Pay won't work. If you need more info about this I can quote someone.

Same here. Unable to send any SMS with EMUI 10 version 10.0.0.161. I noticed that removing pre-installed apps caused the problem. I had some other issues that bugged me (e.g. Chrome freezes unexpectedly). I rolled back to 9.1.0.365 and then disabled com.huawei.android.hwouc just to be sure I don't update again.

Are you sure it's caused by the HMS Core update? Do you have the native call recorder installed from EMUI 9?

I spent like 3 days testing different things and I found out that if I have the EMUI 9 native call recorder installed then upgrade to EMUI 10, then it will disable SMS sending. I tested by first installing a clean EMUI 9.1 -> install native call recorder -> upgrade to EMUI 10. SMS sending fails completely, but can receive SMS fine. This is a clean upgrade, only installed app was the call recorder.

If I reset the phone after upgrade, it will remove the call recorder, and SMS sending will work fine.

If I do NOT install the call recorder, and upgrade to EMUI 10, SMS will also work fine.

It seems to me they did something specifically to kill the native call recorder app, which is why I'm now back to 9.1 and will not upgrade to 10 anymore. Shame because I waited like 6 months for this update but no call recorder is deal breaker for me. :crying:

How did you disable it? When I tried in adb, it gave an error saying "file not found"? so I just uninstalled the package instead lol.

emui 10 imo is terrible. There's so much empty space everywhere taking up lots of screen space for zero reason. Some stuff used to be 1-line long is 2-line long now in emui 10 coz all the empty white space. Also I can't install native call recorder anymore on emui 10. And there's no recorder app on the market that will work properly without root.

No EMUI 10 for bell?

It seems bell has no plans to update the phone to EMUI 10. My contract is up next month and hopefully getting new phone. Never ever have I waited so long for the update. From your guys experience which carrier you see providing fast updates?

I personally recommend getting a phone unlocked from a third party provider. Relying on Canadian networks for phone updates is a gamble imo, and you're no longer getting any sort of real rebate from them.
