Followed instructions for twrp to the letter :http://www.cyanogenmods.org/forums/topic/install-twrp-recovery-samsung-android-using-odin/

After I get the pass from the Odin app on PC, the tablet reboots itself, and I shut it down. Then use vol up, and power to get to recovery, and no change from stock recovery.

I do grasp the difference between download mode, and recovery. I really wish I could remember what I used last time, cuz that was literally a 10 min thing, at most. THis has consumed what 6hrs of time fumbl****in around with it, and getting no progress at all.

I must be making some progress, I now see in the recovery screen "knox warranty void: 1". So i must at least be on the right track, as I tripped the Knox security warranty thing.

Still looking for a viable root for this thing. One with step by step instructions, not put file on device and go, but put files into x folder, then use recovery of whatever to access and apply root. The CF auto root I just tried didn't work, and was able to at least get it back to stock, but I'm basically at square one again. I know this wasn't this hard the last time I did this with the other tablet, but since I can't remember what I did, everything I find now when I google "root sgn 10.1 2014 edition" is way vaguerer than I remember from the last time I did this. TIA.

I'm not responsible for any damage to your device of any sort.
By flashing this you take responsibility of anything that happens.
Process at your own risk!

This is the first build for p600, so some bugs are expected

Features:
-touchwiz ui with near stock functionality
-based on Tab A and Tab S frameworks
-Tab S2 apps
-Tab S3 UI Sounds
-SPen features
-theme support
-pre-rooted (magisk)
-deodexed
-debloated
-knox removed
-Display scaling (root required)
-all apps support multiwindow
-some minor changes like removing safe volume warning, overlay fix etc

Notes:
full wipe required!
First boot takes 10 minutes
For some features root required
Device encryption doesn't support here
If you don't want to install root, remove magisk folder from install zip
If you don't have working spen, flash stock rom before this one.
If you want to make custom rom based on my rom, you're welcome.

Thanks to @Miron24 for testing rom

So what do I put where to do this root? I see no instructions on what files are required, where they need to be, or how to make them do their thing once they're where they need to be. I can figure out that I need at minimum the files for my specific tablet, but with any other instructions on the how to, this root is as worthless as tits on a nun, at least to me...

I'm glad the coders can figure it out, but joe machinist here is totally lost...

Have you tries to turn off auto reboot? I think i remember I had trouble with exacly the same thing, and I solved it this way... So at least you can try this.

I tried yer method. Loaded twrp 2.8.7.0 as some other searches indicated that an earlier version might load easier. After the Odin app gave me a pass, I shut the tablet off manually, and booted into recovery. It gave me "seandroid not enforcing" at top left of screen with the "Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition" boot screen. Left it for a few and it finally got into the TWRP. Unfortunately I left it long enough that the screen went to sleep, and when I came back, TWRP asked for swipe to unlock, and it wouldn't unlock.

The saga continues...

I think we're in business, I just loaded the latest TWRP, while disabling auto reboot. Manually shut tablet off, after I got pass from odin, and I know have TWRP working. Now onto rooting, and loading new rom.

Got er licked. Once I got TWRP on there, and functional it was a breeze. It's too bad the instructions for TWRP left out some things like unchecking the auto reboot tick box, but at least I've got a new rom, and holy schitt batman, apps download and install way faster than on the oe rom. Even my books on kindle download faster than they did before:eek:

I switched over from LineageOS to this rom, and I have to say that this rom is amazing. It never clogs up and freezes when I severily tax my tablet (unlike LineageOS). My note's handeling feels as if the software is far more aligned with the hardware compared to likes of CM, LineageOS and TW-lollipop.
The installation didn't go as smooth as expected because I couldn't get it to flash. I randomly learned that I needed an older twrp in order for it to flash. Can you please update the installation instructions?

Also I'd like to donate if that's possible(your profile page didn't include any details). This rom has great potential, and I'm sure we could provide the support you need/want in order for this rom to gain even more praise.

Just one word: thanks :)
It's just fantastic... now my note 10.1 is perfect :)
Just one thing... if the tab is switched off, there is no animation... the screen stays black and I have seen that is normal (no animation in this rom)... but is difficult to see if the tab is charging or it's fully charged. I know (and that's what I do) we can charge it on standby... but it's not the same ;). Is it possible to improve that (the animation on power off)? Thanks and have a nice day!
I realized about that too, the charging animation never shows up and the screen is always on Meanwhile the wire is plugged, and is not posible to turn it on unless you unplugged the charging cable, so the only way is charging it, is turning it on, is the only bad thing I've found in this rom because everything else is working fine, is fast, good battery and looks good again. I hope somebody find a solution for that bug ?...

This rom is for p600 and it works very very good.
I know it's for the P600. I have the P 600. I try to flash this ROM a few months ago and it didn't work and when I read the form afterwards a few months ago nobody could get the ROM working on the P600. So I read the form again yesterday to see if there was any updates the last person to speak on the form from what I read yesterday people were asking if it was working yet. So I decided to ask myself if it's working and if it's not do you need any help getting it running. I'm a senior member on XDA myself I've owned every single note device ever made and made ROMs for numerous devices a while back.
