Hear ye, hear ye! I've started porting CyanogenMod 10 to the Galaxy Tab Plus.

Do not flash this unless you know how to backup your data and especially unless you know how to get back to stock. If you don't already know how to do this, you might want to familiarize yourself with the process now, while the other developers and me get CM9 to a more "daily driver" state. I don't have time to help n00bs unbrick their devices. No offense!

Known issues:
  • USB mounting of internal storage doesn't work (and probably never will). The internal SD card is not a separate partition, and is mounted internally using FUSE. There is no way to mount that via USB at this time (not even in stock). Blame Google.
  • HDMI out doesn't work
  • IR Blaster doesn't work (and probably never will)
  • Playback of DivX / Xvid MPEG4 videos using the Android video player (MX Player or BS Player work fine though)
  • Wi-Fi is iffy: 5GHz networks don't work well, and Wi-Fi is generally unstable (causes battery drain and requires toggling on/off a few times a day)

Flash
Flash from ClockworkMod Recovery 6.0.2.x (probably works with 5.0.2.x, but I use 6.0.2.x so your mileage may vary). Make sure to wipe data/factory reset. No whining if it eats your homework.

Sources
We share a LOT of similar hardware with other Exynos 4210 / Mali 400MP devices. Right now we're sharing lots of code with the Tab 7.7 people. Here is a list of where you can find my/our code.

Man, this is smooth !

First impression: I got some serious problems playing .webm videos via stock app.

BTW - is it possible to make the launcher portrait ?

MX Player got the same issues with .webm videos.

In H/W mode I get the weird lined or weird colors, and in S/W mode the audi isn't working.

Generally sound doesn't work in S/W mode.

Really nice the development of CM10 is running!

Release seems nice, although many times it doesn't feel that smooth anymore - seems like it's not getting 60 fps.

    CM 10.1 progress

I did some initial CyanogenMod 10.1 bringup in early December before going on leave. Then locerra came along and did a lot more, making major updates to the common tree as well as the kernel (new Wi-Fi driver!). Since I'm back from leave (and back in Kenya with my tablet and build box), I did some work to catch up with his progress on the 7.7 tabs. Looks like we'll have 10.1 betas soon...

    New builds

I posted new builds to goo.im. I don't have time to write what's new (minor kernel tweaks to USB trickle charging, and a new settings app by locerra, latest CM10 code). I haven't even tested them yet. Downloads here:

    http://goo.im/devs/aorth/roms/

I'll update this thread when I get time.

    New builds, October 2...

Ok, here's a substantial update. Changes include a switch to a new Mali driver (from the Galaxy S III Jellybean leak), which makes the user interface more smooth (though not quite "butter"), and actually fixes a memory leak caused by transparent overlays (such as notification drawer, recent apps, etc) in the gralloc library. The teamhacksung guys worked really hard to get support for our tablets in this latest graphics driver. There were some strange issues we were seeing on smdk4210 tabs which they weren't seeing on smdk4210 phones. The thanks for the graphics driver improvements in this build really go to them.

Other than that, it's a sync with the latest CM10 source code. I haven't looked at any other bugs (like soft keys in portrait) yet. Video playback and camera are working again (not like the "butter" preview from earlier this week), but I did notice at least one of my video files didn't play in the Android gallery video player; make a note of the video/audio codecs and container formats in use if you have this issue as well.
