On my 2GB variant, AEX 6.7 after first boot used 1.3-1.4GB RAM. No GApps. However after a while it settled in the 1-1.1GB range.
Could be a similar situation here. Although pre-built GApps would use up more RAM for sure.
Also low RAM patcher helps to an extent. RAM usage falls to 800-900MB after flashing it from earlier ~1GB.
Can you please link that low ram patcher, and what roms can it be used in?
Also since you have 2gb variant, can u please guide me in flashing a good performance daily driver..
Thank u

It can be used in any ROM based on Nougat and later.
Land is my secondary device so I don't use it much. Plus I don't game on mobile so no idea in this regard. My main concerns are good battery life and RAM management. Although my experience with LOS 16 Official was short it seemed to acquit itself well in both. For fluid performance, LOS 17.1 (based on 4.9 kernel ) by Sairam has been singled out by quite a few folks. Although high overnight drain might be an issue. I plan on testing both in over the next few days.
For the 2GB variant both AEX 6.7 and LOS 16 are well suited IMO. However go with either any lightweight GApps package like BitGApps or microG to minimize RAM usage by unnecessary Google services.

Did the low RAM mod actually work for you? Recents changed to flat, reduced RAM usage by system etc? I tried it in Fork LOS and DerpFest Q and in both it didn't seem to have any effect.

It didnt really free up ram but multitasking became a bit better, now I've shifted to a redmi note 4 so can't really help much bro, sorry :(
No worries. It seems the mod needs to be updated for it work in most Android 10 ROMs. It didn't work in a bunch of Pie ROMs as well.
I have to look into a new secondary device as well. 2GB RAM is too limiting nowadays.

Just installed this ROM. Its working smooth so far. RAM usage is higher. Only 1.2 GB free. Both Sims working fine. Can make calls and receive. SMS working fine.

I'm not able to find the Accent Color option to change the theme color apparently. I checked the developer option but its not there.

Edit: Found the option in Display settings. Will test the stability for next couple of days to check battery drain and any issues.

Updated to Quartz 5:

Battery performance is okayish so far.
High RAM usage is still an issue.
Camera performance is just average.
Mobile Data and Calling works fine. Big plus point.
Speaker volume seems a bit low.
When locking the phone using Power button, camera opens up randomly. Happened multiple time.

Devs did a great work for this old mobile. A big thank you.

Using this ROM from last 2 days.

Here are my observations so far.

The ROM is rock stable. The experience is smooth with occasional hiccups here and there but nothing that would crash or freeze the phone.

RAM usage is on higher side. On average 1.8gb of RAM is always occupied by the system and other apps. We only get 1.2GB of free RAM in 3GB version.

Battery I think is draining a little faster than stock ROM. Battery drain on first night was from 88% to 76% in 7 hours. Second night the battery drain was from 92% to 84% in 6 hours. Battery drains faster even while normal browsing like Twitter, Reddit stuff.

Speaker volume is definitely low. I had to use a high pitch ringtone to be able to hear the incoming call ringtone.

Other than the above observations, the ROM is working great. I was surprised to see many features which I didn't had in stock ROM. Cellular networks work fine. Both SIMs can be used for call and messages. WIFI and Bluetooth works as expected.

I hope Devs, resolve some of the issues in the next update. Kudos to them and Thanks.

Edit:

Update : 30-10-2020

Battery drain, High RAM usage issues are there with the ROM. Speaker volume is low. Apart from this issues the ROM is excellent. Every other thing works as expected. I don't have any problems in making and receiving calls and messages. GPS and sensors work fine for me.

If devs resolves this issues than this would be the best ROM for this device.

Higher than expected RAM usage could be due to the built-in GApps with many unnecessary Google apps included. A vanilla build with BitGApps or Open GApps Pico would be better but PA team mandates inclusion of GApps unfortunately.

It could be a possibility but I'm not sure. Pico/Micro would be apt for our device imo.

Battery drain is what I'm more concerned.

How bad is the battery drain exactly? Drain due to kernel is difficult to counter but due to Google Play Services can be reduced a bit. BitGApps has the ability to enable Battery Optimization for Google Play Services which helps a lot to reduce idle drain. This tends to delay notifications though. I think the same applies to NikGApps, Flame GApps as well. Or if you wish to stick to Open GApps then Universal GMS Doze module works well. Magisk root is necessary though. BitGApps IIRC can remove built-in GApps. In Fork LOS with BitGApps idle drain was decent at 0.4%/h on average. Others had reported zero overnight drain even. So maybe give a try with BitGApps but reinstalling the ROM would be needed I think.

Losing like 2% every 40-50 minutes or so. I haven't counted extensively but I have to plug in the connector at least 2 times in a day to keep enough juice to last for a day. Since I'm at home due to Covid, I'm working on my computer most of time which means less usage of phone but still the battery drain is on higher side. That too with GPS and Mobile data being disabled. Let's hope for the best that devs works on it in next update. I checked the Legion OS but many have reported about calling and mobile data issues. Some even have BT and Wifi issues. I have Magisk and I even installed Greenify but it hardly helped. Android OS and Android System, this 2 are mostly visible in Battery usage indicator. So I think the OS itself using resources in background which is draining battery. I may be wrong though. I'm no expert. Yes, but I agree with you Gapps should have been optional. Let's hope devs releases next update.

That's really high idle drain. Even with 4G data enabled id doesn't go beyond 1-1.2%/h. With it off and in 2G only mode with Wifi, BT, GPS off I have experienced 0.4-0.5%/h id in ROMs based on 4.9 kernel. Currently on AEX Q and id is a solid 0.4%/h over 3 days.
Legion OS? Did you mean LineageOS? The problems you mentioned are perhaps specific to LOS 18 which obviously remains a WIP although this month's build is supposed to fix several issues.
I was talking about Fork LOS based on LOS 17.1. In my experience there weren't any issues at all. Only tried AEX because I like a bit more customization. There's even a microG build this time which should be even better when it comes to idle drain.

That's impressive battery life but does it cause problems in receiving messages on real time cause that's my biggest priority? 4.9 kernel seems impressive. Fork LOS looks like is not much discussed over here. I checked previous pages couldn't found any. Is developer actively supporting it or he closed it?
