I made this thread to introduce to all of you an alternative method of increasing performance: Using old versions of apps.
Old versions of apps are usually lighter, and take up less RAM and CPU.
Also, for a lot of apps, especially Google apps, new versions would mean that Google Play Services is required. Google Play Services slow down your phone drastically. For instance , without Google Play Services, I can play Subway Surfers smoothly: Usually from 28-40 fps. With Google Play Services running, the fps drop to around 10-14 fps.
By using old versions, you can safely uninstall, or even block the installation of Google Play Services, and still be able to use apps like Gmail, YouTube, etc...

The apks in this post, are tested by me. I've tested several versions, and these are the ones that perform best in my opinion. Install them like you would install any normal apks.
I'll be updating this thread with more apps. Feel free to contribute to this thread.

is true, the new GP·Services updates take a lot of ram and decrease the phone performance.
I freeze that using Link2SD but some apps need it to work, so is a big trouble, not for me but yes for other ppl, I guess.

thanks for share another solution!

Note: 1. I've just greenified Facebook app.
2. Using Doomsday Rom Xperia J and removed all Sony media apps as well as dlna.apk (Using Quickpic for photos and videos and Apollo for music).
3. I've removed all tweaks and scripts first, then flashed PURE PERFORMANCE GOLD EDITION.
4. Using Vengeance kernel

Did you try the new fb lite app?
The RAM consumption is too dam low compared to the official Facebook app!
