Hey All,

I can confirm it is possible to permanently (as far as I can tell) brick a Captivate. This is how:

- I was running cognition froyo beta 7 - the one without touchwiz

- The phone has the random shut down issue and I figured I'd try to reset to factory to fix it...

- I Master cleared using ODIN (its not my first time using it so pretty sure i did it right) and it said it completed successfully. The phone reboots and all I see is the cognition taskbar. Im assuming this is because cognition doesnt use launcher pro and master clear removed it...so no launcher :(

- Cant activate usb debugging. After a couple of hours of experimenting, master clearing completed successfully and it enable usb debugging...so I thought yay!

- Restarted to do the one click start thing ... and cant enter bootloader anymore (used to work with the vol up, vol down + usb method) nope, tried the other methods too ... nope no success..

ANy ideas? Willing to try almost anything at this point!

Edit: Adb might have worked. Apparently master clear on ODIC Fails right at the end but when it tries to restart, it force closes but leaves usb debugging enabled (phew!). So Adb works! .... have now loaded up cog beat 7 and its working....now going to try and flash back to stock to fix this annoying shut down issue! Feel like a champ :)

Cheers!
