Re: [Petition] NVFlash on JB bootloader

I guess the last part is kind of important to underline, that Android is opensource and due to that companies shouldn't lock it on their devices - this of course makes users brick their devices if they're foolish enough...so since Android opensource Asus (practically every other company as well) should make it easier for people to "unlock" their devices (like they did with the bootloader unlock) - this is a reason to buy an Android device rather than a Bada device or iphone.
Just to remind asus that Android shouldn't be locked like that.

Hmpf, no answer from rayman yet so I'll have to wait until I receive his msg...
but to get it more specific:

change.org has 3 things you have to fill in for the petition (please tell me if there are some faults (also in grammar as a petition should be free of faults lol)

As soon as some ppl say it's good and I have the answer from raymam I'll post a version that should be worthy to start on change.org and then we'll have this to everybody that might sign this!! :good:

1. Who do you want to petition?
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. (Asus)

2. What do you want them to do?
Dear ASUS/Nvidia,

We are owners and prospective owners of the new ASUS Transformer Pad TF300. However, we were very disappointed that the JB bootloader prevents to use the NVFlash Tool.

While we trust that the TF300 will be well-supported with official updates, this tablet has the potential to be an excellent platform for development by enthusiasts as well, and we think NVFlash would make it even more attractive for developers and customers.

In the past we had already been able to use the NVFlash tool which saved many devices from a brick and buying a new (maybe Non-Asus). That makes this all the more frustrating that another petition seems to be required for the TF300.

Please consider giving us the ability to use the NVFlash tool on the TF300 again. (this will be edited with the thing rayman sais is needed) We assure that this tool will faster a vibrant development community around the TF300 and will promote sales and establish ASUS' reputation in the community as an excellent and receptive supplier of mobile devices.

Yours faithfully,

The Undersigned

3. Why is this important?
Android is the leading open-source operating system for smartphones and tablets, so customers should be also able to use the tools developers create and manufacturers shouldn't prevent them from using this tools that are very appreciated in the (developement) community!
Put this comment in first topic with credits :) to people see :) hope you dont be angry :p
i have to say one thing...we should extend to tf700 device to :) I think the petition excelent! :highfive:

Seems that they receive? Guess they'll receive your pm's - guess you have to wait...

Hope we get this petition on the way soon, so I dare to root my device and get a custom recovery as well as a custom rom :)

I think this is mentioned in point 3? Remember 2 and 3 shouldn't be identical ;)

But two other questions: Should I include TF700 too? (so just write Asus Transformer Pad TF300/Asus Transformer Pad Infinity)
and second: Should we make a new thread when it's online? Because this one got a bit messed up  I would for sure open one in TF700 section too if we would include them in the petition

Still no answer from rayman, seems like we have to it on our own

So as I think we have now everything except this I think we could bring it online even without rayman as Asus will know themself what it needs for NVFlash...

If nobody minds I'd bring this online in about 12hours (before I go to bed)

I think that someone could send info about petition to the most popullar website! I think that If this petition was news on for example Engadget, It would get big succes! I can't share this to XDA developer tv or Engadget, becouse my english isn't good enough. I've sent info about petition to some polish websites. If you are German, you share info about petition to gernmany websites; If you are Portugese, you share petition to Portugese websites! It have to get succes!

Give it some time...I only find out few hours ago and signed. I'll spread it in some German forums, might be they'll be supportive. Also we could have it in our signatures in case we're active in other forums.
But seriously,i expected an outburst of signings :D
But i personally dislike the site of the petition a bit, maybe others do as well :/

I'll make sure there are tone more signings :D

Ok I made 2 threads in one german forum and have it in my signature in every forum and mention it everywhere I write :D

That should probably bring some signings :)

So what about sticking this thread near the top so everybody notices it?
Has any of the mods that have been asked answered yet?
