petitions are not generally useful . i have a similar proposition . if 100+ polite emails , nicely asking for what we want showing the advantages of the act , are sent then we might have a chance at it . samsung's customer support should care about it's customers wish , right ?
xda forum grasps a bit of a large community , which are potential or actual customers of samsung , and an act like releasing libs , sources and so on means a newsworthy xda post , especially for a popular low budget phone . this kind of acts is good marketing , and their cost is minimal , it's a win win situation . i mean look at Sony , they are doing this right now - supporting the community , and i personally think that my next phone should be an xperia .
sometimes , a bit of diplomacy would help a lot more than swearing your keyboard off at a gigantic corporation . just a proposition i hope you could get in consideration .
there are thousands of petitions out there and usually there are not many who are actually effective .
