Currently I am using cwm 6.0.3.7 on carbon rom 4.2.2.
My question is ,can I flash latest philz touch cwm 'n7000-cm11' zip over previously installed cwm6.0.3.7,to upgrade to cm11/AOSP 4.4:confused:
I am totally confused! Can anyone help me?

Ok so I've read the OP a few times already and I'm still a bit confused. I want to flash a TW based rom and it requires this recovery. I was about to use the advanced edition which is version 6.x but I read somewhere that it's only for CM based roms. So my understanding is that 5.15.0 is the latest PhilZ kernel for TW roms. Is that correct?

Ok.. Let's make it a bit simple. Root you stock JB as using using philz kernel. This is the time when you want to check the build number. Once you go this working, download the 4.4 rom and raw r4 kernel on to phone memory (any). Then boot into cwm philz recovery and choose to format system, data, cache and preload. Then flash raw r4. Reboot recovery. Then flash omni, followed by supersu and gapps. Reboot.
hello i wanna ask, what if my android version officially 4.1.2 n i want to install kitkat 4.4.2 nameless, so the step like these :
my android 4.1.2 with stock kernel then i install directly CWM n then install Rom kitkat 442, it works?
or i must install philz kernel first before i install CWM based recovery? thanks very much :)

You need a Custom Recovery included in Custom Kernel - not possible from Stock ROM Recovery/Kernel. All written here in 1000 posts...

Hi!

I just want to make sure I understand the principle of this.
If I use stock xxlt5, then there is no newer compatible package than PhilZ-cwm6-XXLT5-OXX-5.03.0, is that correct? I can't help but wanting to having the latest PhilZ Touch version, but maybe they need to be repackaged somewhow to be compatible for XXLT5, is that so?

I am asking this because of the CWM 6.0.4.7 Advanced Edition / PhilZ Touch 6.12.8 page, and one cant help but wish to have the latest version of it (no matter if I need it or not ;) )

Hi All / @nokiamodeln91,

Can someone help a confused soul, and explain if I am doing something wrong....

I looked at the latest link/version of Philz_Touch, which is something like Philz_Touch_6.12.8-n7000.zip and I thought this to be the KK compatible recovery/kernel.

And whilst the Philz bit works fine in itself, and with it installed/in place, the KK roms even boot up ok with this installed... However is anyone else not getting any radio (standard mobile network) signal??? I can never connect, nor search for any networks after flashing this, and tried two versions now....??

Thanks, Lister

Same issues here with the kernel. IMEI goes to unknown. On 1st boot with this kernel, both emmc and sdcard1 were not mounted.. but after a reboot emmc was mounted but ext sd still unaccessible (even in recovery).
Flashed RAW kernel r5 on top of it and all back to normal.. so.. there seems to be some issues with kernel.

Hi @nokiamodeln91,

Ah, phew... then it's not just me then??? lol

Didnt look at the eMMC mounting at the time, although I was worried that it could have some effect on the eMMC bug if I had flashed it incorrectly some how?? But that said, the whole reason for/of this recovery is to overcome the initial bug that Samsung introduced with ICS.. So knew I was safe... Didnt notice the IMEI missing either, just no radio siginal... :( lol

First I re-flashed the rom over itself to fix it... But then on another rom with same bug, I did the same as you... and re-flashed RAW5 as it was easier... ;) lol

Hopefully Phil maybe aware of this, and we look forward (as ever) to his future work...

thanks, Lister

Any thing on my side that I should do or these are related to ROM?
Not sure where the issue is, but here's the situation.
- Pure CM11 -> IMEI OK, GSM Signal ok, ext SD mounts fine.
- Flash " Philz_Touch_6.12.8-n7000.zip" -> Rom boots fine, but IMEI unknown, Baseband unknown (so no GSM signal) Wifi not working as well, No ext SD in root explorer. When mounted sdcard1 in Philz recovery, the recovery just hangs there for ever till forced to reboot.
- Flash Raw r5/Original boot.img from CM11 -> Everything back to normal again.

Hopefully Philz_Touch_6.12.8-n7000.zip is meant for Kitkat.

Hi @Phil3759,

Similar to Nokiamodeln91 post above...

Have tested Philz_Touch_6.07.9_n7000.zip and Philz_Touch_6.12.8_n7000.zip doing the same thing/bug.... Basically no GSM network after flashing this recovery. Personally didn't notice the SD Card mounting issue, will test again and see if it happens to me.

Tested roms are KK based) SlimKat, Carbon, NamelessROM.

So it appears universal across the roms... I hope this helps you in finding out the bug. If you need myself (or I am sure NokiaModeln91 is happy to help too) to try\test anything out, more than happy to do so...

And thank you in advance for your amazing recovery, and time and effort you put in to give us this feature/tool!! thank you..

Lister

Sorry
Noticing wired posts and IMEI issues
No time to read all.

Any thing on my side that I should do or these are related to ROM?

I will look into it
Give me some time. I will flash cm-11 rom on my old i9100 and give it a run
Mount storage is probably related to the fact I sue kernel modules while cm uses fuse. Will see what I can do
About the baseband, could be selinux permissions, will look into it

Just a suggestion (faced similar issue before and this may work), try to flash a modem after you face the no network and no IME issue

Help!

Hi

Don't want to spam the thread with needless calls for help, but having soft-bricked my phone some 12 months ago, I thought it best to ask.

I'm running stock rom on gt-n700 as shown in the attached picture. Things are not going well, as I find myself uninstalling more and more apps to avoid 'insufficient storage' warnings when updating them. I've found Philz-cwm6-XXLT9-ORA-5.11.2.signed.zip, but would like to confirm if this is the correct one which will root and install recovery so that I can then install a custom rom.

With many thanks...
