Is it possible to flash any other kernel through stock recovery by replacing the zImage file in the zip?

e.g: Extract zImage file of HydraCore and replace it with the one in signed.zip...

You can try, but it wont pass signature verification in stock recovery.

Why would not it pass?

As far as I know the signature is not located within the zImage file. Though, there still may be other parameters to be checked like file size, etc.
But I don't think it is likely. Gotta give it a try to see. However, I am already on Philz Kernel and I do not intend to go back.

First I tried speedmod kernel it as fine but after a while it started not recognizing sd cart. I switched hydracore result was the same. I decided to give a try to philz..works like a charm.

Thanks to developer.

Hey Guys, Just reading the last 3 pages of this thread. I was wondering about flashing back to my original ROM. I just want to ask if my rom is stock (rooted) with Phil's kernel installed, can i just flash my original rom with odin? or via Kies (Will these procedures safe since i have the brick bug chip model of GNote.

Thanks for the advise.

P.S. is there any safe way to return to stock ICS ( no root and SEC kernel installed).

If you manipulate my signed zips, they won't flash again in stock recovery. They need to be test signed
However, if you have cwm recovery, you can still flash these zips. It is a good way to flash your zImage files quickly when on cwm recovery

If you flash a stock ROM in odin over a stock rom with my kernel, it will remove all traces from my kernel.
You could still have to delete this folder:
Code:
/data/philz-cwm6
It is used to save settings for gui part

even if you are on his kernel kies will let you update.
If you want ota, it will let you check for ota but won't be able to install it. so I would suggest wait till you actually get the ota notification.

its very simple. just flash the stock rom using pc odin.

Cwm is an advanced recovery that replaced your stock recovery after installing a custom kernel. so the same way.
It's better to ask and then do rather than doing and asking what do I do now?
yup but reading also gives a lot of info
