Getting black screen after gt-n7000 logo. Flashed via recovery and via odin same result.

Using the jb leak and tried with PhilZ-cwm6-XXLS2-XJB-2.7.tar.md5 (odin) and PhilZ-cwm6-XXLS2-XJB-2.7-signed.zip (recovery)

Any hints?

Guide

Can someone post a guide for newbies on how I can update just my kernel? I've done the cwm.zip rooting method and I would like to install this kernel so I can be safe from the eMMC bug. I'm quite confused regarding the instruction posted on page 1...my build is XXLRK GT-N7000. Please help...I just want a clear instruction coz I might do it wrong and eventually brick my phone.

Very clear instruction on 1st page is there

Download xxx-signed.zip kernel matching your ROM
Put the previously downloaded xxx-signed.zip file on your external sd card
Boot into stock recovery (volume up+home+power)
Select "apply update from external storage".
Now select the xxx-signed.zip file you copied in previous step
You are rooted + new PhilZ-cwm6 kernel with CWM6
you need to download LRK kernel from first page (zip version)

Did that, twice...

Went back to LRT and updated to LS2 via mobile odin again.

Gonna stick with stock kernel until a LS7/8 is out, but thanks for the input.

I understand that this kernel has NO build-in CIFS support. Can I request this in the coming builds?

On the other hand, does any one know where can I find standalone CIFS module (cifs.ko) compatible for JB 4.1.1?

This may be a totally obvious question, but "kernel code" mentioned in the instructions refers to "build number" in the "about phone," options, correct?

Are you flashing Philz (tar version) through Mobile Odin? If so try falshing zip version via stock recovery.

even if you are on his kernel kies will let you update.
If you want ota, it will let you check for ota but won't be able to install it. so I would suggest wait till you actually get the ota notification.

its very simple. just flash the stock rom using pc odin.
Thanks to everybody for the answers. I really just concerned with the brickbug thinghy since my note is one of the affected ones. i was afraid that if i flash my stock rom via odin will trigger the bug.

Thank you again guys.:good:

Are you flashing my kernel LS2 on an ICS ROM?
For LS2, you need to install LS2 ROM leaks first, start it and be sure it loads on LS2 stock kernel (you could need a full wipe coming from ICS)
After that, flash my LS2 kernel over stock LS2 ROM/Kernel combo
My LS2 kernel is part of many JB custom ROMs and works without issues. Maybe just get one of these custom JB LS2 ROMs...

Please report tests as I asked or I will never fix it as I cannot reproduce it:

I quote my previous query:
My question is rather: take that specific bootanimation and try it on my philz ics kernel. Does it work? If yes, it could be i only have to change bootanimation binary. Without, testers, i wont be able to fix it as i have no Note and no jb leak for s2 i can test
