I've got a question: Has anybody ever experienced any kind of SOD problems with this kernel? Last Thursday I got my Note back from the service center. The first thing I did was installing the XXLRW SFR Rom (4.0.4) along with the corresponding PhilZ kernel. Now the latest version released on November 19 is installed. During the six days I have been using my device again I have experienced at least 5 SODs and now I'm wondering what could be the reason for this.

used when in ics, using when on jb, not a single crash. what can cause the crash? the kernel itself is not. modified.
I'm not saying it's the kernel. I'm only trying to figure out what could be the cause. And the kernel is an important part of the system and could possibly be the reason. But there are also things I have to look into like installed apps etc.

Stuck at corrupted philz bootlogo

Im on Chameleon 2.0 ROM (XWLPX) and dorimanx 5.87 kernel. Ive just flashed Philz XXLRW 3.5 kernel and now my phone is unable to boot normally, nor go into recovery nor go into download mode. It always gets stuck on a corrupted Philz bootlogo, where the whole screen is beige-ish in color with horizontal lines across the screen.

Help!

EDIT: Ok, managed to get to download mode and reflashed dorimanx.tar. Phew!
No wonder...i flashed this N7000 kernel for my Galaxy s2... my bad.

Somewhere in Oz...
It is available as 2.7 version

Sadly, I cannot update all the kernels for all requests. It is becoming a huge job. I stopped around September

If you really need the new recovery features, just update to a new kernel please
Correct. There is no problem running a newer kernel on an older ROM. In fact, it is recommended IMO as the newer ones will have performance enhancements whilst still maintaining compatibility. For example, using LR9 kernel on LRT ROM actually seems to make the ROM run smoother. Just having latest kernel for both JB and ICS in OP should be enough.;)

Hi all

I need help please. Sorry if I am noobish :(

I tried to flash PhilZ kernel on my international (Galaxy Note GT-N7000). I am running the XXLS2 JB leak. But after flashing the LS2 kernel found in the OP with Odin (I don't have external SD to flash via recovery), I still don't have root? I do, however, get the yellow triangle at boot.

I tried the LS7 kernel on the same firmware still, and still no root.

I tried searching this thread and googling for an answer or an alternative method to root my GT-N7000, but to no avail. I really need to restore some apps and their data with Titanium Backup...

Thank you for any help, and thanks for all the development put in...you guys are awesome.

do you have phills recovery ? find out if it will allow you to flash these files from internal sd - http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1279136&stc=1&d=1345786322

from Dr Ketans rooting guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360

ps- i faintly remember in some initial leak releases (versions) Phill did not include the root feature

@Freestanler; have you go a super su icon in the app drawer? If yes, open it and update the binary. also use root checker from the play store to check.

Thank you Rraaka and nokiamodeln91

There is no SuperSU icon or anything like that in the app drawer. I did check root with root checker, but my device is not rooted.

Rraaka, I will check those links soon! Thank you...

Hello Phil I am using your Kernel with CWM on my N7000 xxls7 and it works perfectly.
If you find some spare time, which I assume is very rare, could you make a Brickbug free and CWM, rooted kernel for the GT-P6800 (galaxytab 7.7) which is close to the N7000 hardware wise.

There isn't much development for the P6800, and I am running the LQ2-AUT stock kernel since months.

If you don't have the time for it, thanks anyway for your great job on the N7000 :)

regards

OOps! me bad mouth lol, I just see that a LQ9 is out since a few weeks :)

Not sure actually
Please feel free to remind me in few weeks. If then I am done, I would do it gladly

I checked and I do have Phils recovery, yet no root. Will check those links soon...

Because you flashed odin version.
Now, after odin version is flashed, you have my philz touch recovery. Just flash again the zip version of kernel and you will be rooted properly
