Thanks Phil for ur hard work

May I ask if it's possible to get a dualboot version of the new lsc kernel, please.

Thank you in advance.

sent from my G-Note
Sure but I just realized I missed a small check: Time zone setting won't survive a reboot
You'll need to set it every time on restart for this version.

I already fixed it in the code, but noted only once released.

Next version will fix this and add some features too. I will release the dual boot after that. Hopefully, I will look to add a script to build the dual boot version automatically as for now it takes me time to build it manually

This version remains useful for people that hate nandroid backup having a bad time stamp. Hopefully, you won't be doing nandroids 4 times a day...

Which Kernel?

My Note has the following:

Baseband Version: N7000DXLR1
Build Number: IMM76D.DXLR2

I've tried installing the following:

PhilZ-cwm6-DDLR9-INU-3.71.tar.md5
PhilZ-cwm6-DDLRB-ODD-3.71.tar.md5

but both failed, my device stuck in a boot loop. Can anyone suggest which Kernel would work with my ROM?

DXLR is not available.

Flash zip version from recovery. Either should work.
Edit: Try latest BULR1 -SWC(zip) 3.75. ICS kernels are interchangeable in my experience.

Or try any dxlr... kernel. The DX matters on some kernels

Hello,

I just rooted my note.

I have

ICS 4.0.4 N7000XXLRB with kernel 3.0.15-N7000XXLRI-CL811902, so i installed PhilZ-cwm6-XXLRK-XEU-3.71-signed...

Now, everything went fine with the rooting, but when i tried (several times) to do a backup (wether to the extsdcard or the internal), i get this error in the backing up data step:

Error while making a backup image of /data!

And since i'm a a newie in android, there is no way i could figure out why this happens...

Here is the log:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/14114808/recovery.log

I hope you can help me...

For all, they're interested in Overclocking... : Tegrak OC Ultimate roll an update out two days ago, for jb kernels on exynos family CPUs..... On play store description, there is just a named the s3 in the change log, but on the website, they got a full device list and there is note 1 also listed..... I tried it with philz kernel 3.73,works fine, got six CPU levels, OC like on its stock kernels, and two gpu levels.....
Only thing: After installing the Tegrak drivers, the video player can't be opened with the main app anymore, you need a activity link (maybe with apex launcher or else), to the "searchlist" the activity, then you can choose your video as before..... Why? Don't ask me, but the app crashes, as you will open it..... The widget also run like before, and the floating screen also, no problem......
And Overclocking works normaly now, like you know it from Tegrak....
Hint: Using this is on your own risk, and you don't can get any support for this here in philz thread.... Sorry, but I post it here, cause all jb leak users are running Philz Kernel, so sorry for this OT...... Thx
Greet from Munich and the Phil very very much for this great kernel, to make it possible, to run the Jb leaks with root..... You're great man.... I hope, if Samsung will release the source codes, that any dev will compile a tweaked Kernel....

Turn phone off and pull battery.
Wait a few minutes, put it back and try again.

Your log doesn't include the part where you did nandroid backup. It seems like just a log on start/reboot. Make sure you have enough space on sdcard. At worst, if everything fails, try to format /data in recovery to fix it, and also the sdcard. Many errors are due to bad sectors in partitions

That's normal since About info is stored in build.prop which comes with ROM, not stock kernel. I can add it, but won't as the aim is to keep it near stock. If you install BULR1 ROM, your version will show right

To verify the kernel version, go in terminal and type
Code:
su
getprop

I'm trying to root a friend's Galaxy Note and I can't find the correct kernel here... it says it's XXLQ2, the closest I can find is XXLQ3. Would this work?

Hi, thanks. But that won't erase all data in them?
Also, i have almost 3Gb of free space, so don't think that's the problem... isn't? Or can i send the backup to the pc if connected?

Finally, how do i get the nandroid backup log?

3Gb can be small for data, I am not sure how the nandroid job works, but it can use a lot of space normally to generate md5...
Normally, after the backup fails, before restarting phone, choose option to send error log to save it to sdcard

PhilZ,
Mate, any chance/plans to support swap (swapper2)
Cheers

Not sure it is doable without recompiling from source. If you have any doc link about swap support in android post it here so I could maybe look at it

Hi Phil. Just checked out new Cm 10 kernel (using your special backup and restore menu of course) It's now semi touch. Seems they have been reading you github:) I notice they have system automatically unmounted. I remember Entropy posting some time ago that he implemented this to make it easier to /format/system when there are mild corruption issues. Do you think it would be a worthwhile feature to add to your kernel?
Edit. And Cache too for that matter. (Data is already unmounted)
