If anyone interested, here's a comparison between 2 shots taken with respectively Samsung Camera vs Open Camera, both in auto settings mode, focus set at the exact same point - on the mouse. 1st shot is samsung camera, 2nd is open camera
I've been finding that the open camera produces a bit more realistic lightning as well as slightly less noise but maybe decreased sharpness.

Also, I think the overall quality of the rear camera, even if better than most of what's being available today in the phone catalog, is not that good. It lacks details and sharpness.
I have never found a camera that could match what the Lumia 1020 was capable of achieving: enclosed, cat picture taken with the said lumia. I mean if you look closely you can actually see my reflection in the cat's pupil.

Yes and I can say that too. Overexposed and make scenes flat without true dark und light areas. It looks almost like painted.

love and hate that screen

 just got one for several months screen
the pics and videos are awesome when shown on the(of the phone)!
but they're less looking good when send to my friend's phone (she uses iphone).

Finally, when I use it, my fingers often touch the screen by chance:crying:, but the screen is still very good. Maybe I will be familiar with it after using it for a long time!:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

Say "cheese", then rate this thread to express how photos taken with the Samsung Galaxy S8 come out. A higher rating indicates that photos offer rich color (without over-saturating), sharp detail (with all subjects in-focus), and appropriate exposure (with even lighting).

Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Cant give some pics atm but is great but using s9 cam on s8 kind s breaks the quality

I think everyone forgets that at this point, this is late april 2017 phone. So treat it like it is, meaning:

1. for today's standards, cam quality is 4/5 (really good score for 2019 i think)
2. For 2017, when it was released, it was 5/5
3. tl,dr - It's plenty good for all your regular needs, and will be so, for some more time - again, for 2019 not many phones can say that, altho the camera is basically the same as s7e

P.S. Over-saturation is what everyone is talking about however, if you like taking pics of nature, flowers and macros in general you are going to be pleasantly surprised even today with this cam!

Anyone knows if it is possible to enable saving photos in HEIF format on the S8+ camera app ?
I can see the HEVC (for video) option but not for images which is strange.
