Proof that people have no idea what good image quality is.
Pixel 2 is terrible..
iPhone is decent but pretties up photos with processing (pumps contrast, warm) and is low-res as f.
3T and the mate 10 look the most true to life. Still outdone in a few ways and need lots more improvements though.
Let's be fair here. Picture quality is subjective. If strong noise reduction, contrast and very strong image sharpening is your thing, then Mate 10 Pro is the clear winner.

iPhone X "wins" as pictures iare more pleasing (warmer) which most "average" consumers prefer.
I'd say Google Pixel 2 is the clear winner with the best detail.

Huawei is going the Samsung route here - remove all noise at all cost!!..even if the pic looks like an oil painting (make it darker for a Leica style look).

True to life accuracy is not subjective

I've now had it for 5 days. I'm rally disappointed with the camera. As others have said, so many of the photos on auto look like an oil painting. No point in zooming in.

I'm going to experiment with manual / Pro options to see if I can get a better less painting photos.

Finally able to take out the mate 10 pro for some photography testing. Quite happy with the results. Definitely more usable in low light than the mate 9 pro I had before.

Some shots came out quite overexposed and washed out, but they were the minority.

I bought mate 10 brown and compared its camera with the black one and noticed that image on black is much better than mine
What can i do now!?
Take a second look.

There just can't be big difference on different color variants. If there really is a significant difference, your phone might be faulty and requires service.

Shoot same scene on both phones, Put both images on a PC and compare there, i am having a black mate 10 and my friend bought a brown and at first we felt the same and then we did a side by side comparison on pc and found both photos were same, tge difference was only on the phone due to lcds colors.
