they just announced A50s with a better camera. If you were looking to buy A50 don't. The main weakness is camera and with the 48mpx sensor which I'm guessing is IMX586, it should work a lot better. It's same price.

Samsung's midrange phones are very strange. This is such a fast refresh. The phone came out like 5 months ago.

Not a very huge diff in camera quality compare to redmi note 7 pro which has the same sensor imx586. Initially the camera quality wasnt that good but with multiple updates it has gotten a lot better nw. Specially the night mode addition in the camera. Hence no complaints. FP is also fast after aug update

I'm not really satisfied with the camera's ability to do macro shots. Finds it hard to focus and in general, there seems to be a lack in detail in pictures taken by the phone.

Camera issue...

So my problem with my Galaxy A50 is that when I switch to 3:4H (25 MP) camera mode, the pictures become way too soft and loose all of their sharpness, they become blurry, but that doesn't happen when I take pictures with the default 3:4 mode. I've tried "Open Camera" and Google Camera (Gcam) and when I choose the 25 mp setting, it doesn't seem to shoot at true 25 mp... Does anybody know how to fix this? Thanks~!!!:D

Right now and maybe forever GCAM doesn't work, or it's stacking tech does not work. For simple use, Open Camera seems to give slightly better quality than the stock app but that is with turning off all processing. In settings, go to "processor settings" and turn everything off. It's probably a bit softer, but to me it gives the best quality so far which isn't great. For still subjects you can get much better quality using an app that does median stacking like gcam. There are apps that do what gcam does but with less optimization Hedgecam does this (free and you use the "Noise Reduction" mode......although limited, Camera2api setting should be enabled. There are some others.

I was looking into a50, now a50s. Wouldn't it be better to have less MP larger aperture. 1.8 vs 2.0 in a50s? Would like to see comparison side by side both photo and video. Or expert reviews. Now i can't touch either. Camera is important to me.

Go for less and larger pixels on the sensor , like in S series. My retired S8 gave better results with 12 mp than a50 with 24 (or 12). These many megapixels need a bigger sensor to really make sense.

i can't go with older S not a fan of bezels and curved screen. Once i went s10e i'm never going back to S9/8. I hope the price of this overpriced mid-range will drop. I don't need another flagshit. $350+7% tax for this phone and i can buy another s10e which is very nice and takes good pictures and video.

Can't agree more. Without the curved screen my s8 would probably still be alive. So s10e is on my list too. But for now a50 does a pretty good job so I'm patient for prices to drop.

scumsung learned from apple. price unlikely to drop. they'll just keep releasing same new phones with zero or incremental "improvements" - s, s+, s pro, s+ pro, power, power+, power+s, etc lol and keep price same or more than the previous models. i'd grab 50s to try first, but not at s10e price. just need a larger screen for a backup phone. around $170 with tax maybe most i can tolerate for this phone if cam is not so good.

I've tested the camera on A50s. Both A50 and A50s are nearly identical.
While using 48MP mode, A50s does pull ahead of 25MP on A50 but that's not quite noticeable.
A50 was performing better in lowlight, considering the lower aperture f1.7 ofcourse.
A50 comes with a flagship Imx 576 sensor too, which is also a great sensor in its own right.

Cheers.

Don't use the 25MP under low light.
It'll result in soft and grainy images.
It's due to smaller pixel size.
Use it under good lighting condition, in daytime under natural light for best results.

Use pixel binned 12MP shots under lowlight.

I've mentioned my modded Gcam for A50 under the Gcam thread. It'll allow you to shoot 25MP full Res all the time.
Cheers !

I guess it's normal what samsung does. If the camera is good, very good, amazing, it'll kill their flagships sales. It will never be very good. Maybe average or normal in its class. Wating for a50s+

It's good for the price.
Infact it has flagship level dynamic range too.
Even DXOMark stated that.
The only problem is that the images lack a bit detail.
But A50 makes it up with Natural colours, Excellent dynamic range and good lowlight performance.

And yes, Falgship devices of Samsung do have excellent Camera's. And your A50s+ ain't gonna get the same treatment as well.
Cheers !

A50 has still one of the best camera among that price range
A50s+ is supposed to be costly, can't say how it'll perform now. Competition is pretty tough around that price range.
Cheers !

Well your jokes have turned into reality.
Samsung is going to launch A41, A21, A31, A51, A91 etc soon.
They're just not called "s+" which you said.
Cheers !
