I noticed one thing - there's no stabilization in 1080p/30fps or below but... in 1080p/60 or 4K everyhting is back to normal!

Except autofocus is still hunting like a maniac.

the EIS works inverted, OIS works just fine

I have found out the problem

the OIS works just fine, tested this using 1080p 60 because on previous version, the UI tells that the EIS is NOT available on 4K/1080p 60. Huawei wants us to forcely use the stabilization on the newer version so Huawei hid the option to disable stabilization

the EIS on the latest update, the EIS is inverted thus when you analyze the stabilization when you are moving the camera, it stabilizes the wrong way

to fix this until next update comes up hoping that Huawei fixes this issue, you should use 1080p 60 fps

I also noticed this on my P10. First I thought it was in my head, but after a few days of testing I can confirm that the video quality has been degraded masively.

No image stabilization (no setting for it, and it does not acctually do anything in any video mode), and the aperture and focus are also worse.

Huawei went all Apple on us, forcing us to change devices, although we still like our P10.

Contacted support, still waiting for a response.

B185 did a small change. Stabilization used to be bad in all resolutions above 720p. Now it's fine at 4K and 1080p&60fps! Unfortunately it's still bad at 1080, more - it's now bad at 720p as well.

Still no fix, I can confirm the same inversion since the pie update, with 1080p60 and 4K having the stabilization but nothing below, whereas before it was the opposite.

The problem is that 1) 1080p60 has a lower resolution/quality than 1080p30, I am not sure why, 2) both 1080p60 and 4K takes HUGE space when recording. I used to choose 720p as it's far more than enough to encode given the quality of the video sensor on this phone, 4K and 1080p seems overkill, so now I am forced to record huge video where there is no need to....

Huawei should fix this asap!

I'm still on Oreo, I just extracted the Huawei Camera APK with APK Extractor Lite. Can someone on Android Pie try to install the old camera apk (if installing is successful) and look if stabilisation is working again?
Would be nice to know if it works but I guess it cannot be installed over pie cam app.
I am hoping for a fix in the upcoming August EMUI 9.1 patch. If not, eBay is waiting.

The problem in beautification settings

Hi! I have just tested. On my P10 the image stabilisation is misbehaving in 1080p30 and 720p. It is easy to test, when You move the camera up, it will slide left, when You move duwn, it slides right. It does not do this in other settings. But it is only when beautification level is 0. When it is turned on even to settings 1 then it works again. So i think it is a problem in the beautification settings. The stabinisation settings are missing, so maybe the beautification settings was accidently written to turn off stabilization in level 0.

Could others please test this?

No, it is not related to beautification, since it switches from 1080 to 720 when you turn beauty mode on.
The 1080p30 mode was destroyed by Huawei

Just found this post. Downloaded, enabled third party app installation, but it won't install. I am no expert. Maybe different dependencies so it cannot work?

Update to 9.1 is coming according to various sorces (eg. GSMarena). I hope it brings some bug fixes too. Some reported p10 plus had no fixes after the update.

Updated regular P10 to 9.1 and OIS problem is still there. Not as bad as on 9.0 but not as near good as on 8.0. Dissapointed at Huawei.

Yep, with every Emui update is it worse and worse.
Look at the photos in 9.1.0.252, it's terrible quality.

I did rollback to 8.0.0.386 via HiSuite with PC and everything is ok.
But Huawei killed P10 with Android 9.
