I want to be able to sync screen app layouts across two android devices on the same google account. Is there a way to do this? Or is there a better place i should be posing this question?

Cheers in advance
You'll probably have a better chance of getting results if you post this in the Pixel 2 XL Q&A section...

Good luck!

what Kernel are people using nowadays? EX?

Also, is it possible to just use the stock Kernel? I want to install the March update now, just wondering if (and how) I can do so with just stock Kernel

I don't know if it's of importance to you, but the issues I had with stock kernel is, with stock, TWRP's touch tends to not work -- so you couldn't unlock/decrypt as well as tap to backup/restore/install -- as well as not being able to get Google Pay to work when rooted (even with MagiskHide) whereas using a custom kernel allowed me to use those apps while rooted...

Again, i don't know if this applies to you, but it's something to consider and hope this helps...

Thanks for the message. wow, I had no idea that Google pay was so reliant on that. I have always had a custom kernel so I guess I never noticed. But I use that everyday. I guess I will just wait for one of the devs to updates on this month. Thanks for the heads up!

Hi,

I'm thinking of upgrading to Pie now that there's EdXposed and Gravity Box available.

One question: does removing the -w at the end of the script also keep the installed apps intact? Or is it just for the virtual sd card?

(I searched but not sure what to search for haha)

Thanks!

Removing the -w leaves your internal storage intact, which includes apps. Remember to reopen the flash-all file after saving it to ensure the -w is actually gone :D

I edited the flash-all file once, removing the -w, hit save file, flashed it, and wiped my device. Not sure what happened, all I can think of is it didn't save properly...

So I usually put it out there as a reminder for others :p

A huge thanks to @Az Biker for his guide! I managed to update keeping all my data and root intact! I'm finally on Pie haha!

Question though: why is the brightness so weird on Pie? I turned off Adaptative (like I always do) and my display is much dimmer now. I use to keep it around 35-40% on Oreo but now have to crank it up all the way to 85%!!

What gives?!

Google changed the algorithm on how adaptive brightness, and manual brightness works a while back. You still have the same amount of brightness, it just that you have to crank it up a bit to get the same effect.

I see. I thought I remembered reading something about it but wasn't sure. Thanks for confirming!

I wonder if the brightness of the display is unchanged then. ?

Hey @Az Biker will you be making any Guide or steps for Android P to Android Q (Beta) update...
Oh....I'm sure he will. However, success will depend upon how much google has changed in their system files that will determine if we can update with/without a full wipe, and if Mr. Magisk will work as well. And...there's always the wild card in the P2XL itself between users. If nothing else, it'll be fun for sure!:laugh:

Anyone else who has tried it yet, DP4 looks tempting, but I am not sure if I am able to use root, or the install with work without full wipe.

I'll be honest; life has kept me away from messing with my device MUCH more than l'd like to admit.

So I haven't been immersed in the issues and processes of upgrading to Q. (I'm still on March factory image ? )

Once a reliable, widely accepted process has been vetted by the invaluable folks here, including @Badger50, who trailblaze new paths; I have no doubt a detailed step by step will follow :good:

Have you ever ran fastboot flashing unlock_critical..?

Have you actually booted into the 9.0.OS yet?
how to find out you have PRIOR to TMZ20a where to find that out??? which build that would be???? as my understanding TMZ20a wont work???? if someone can post that instruction then I can ask sellers online to check that one for me, so I can buy phone with it, I bought one which I couldn't root and I had to send it back taking lost on it. Thanks!!!!
