It's dum dums like you that make Google think they can do no wrong, and so they think it's okay to pump out trash like this. It doesn't surprise me either, being that with the Pixel line, they have copied Apple's design language.

Screw the notch trend, screw apple for implementing such idiotic trends and screw the android manufacturers that follow these trends. I truly hope Samsung never follow this crap and give us the next best smartphone - S10, with a headphone jack and symmetrical top and bottom design.

No! Plastic is the best material on a phone! This is why we can't have nice things! Plastic can be easily replaced/removed, is RF transparent, and is compatible with wireless charging. It also absorbs more energy from an impact than glass or metal.

For all that, it's cheaper too.
Nooooo! Take it back! Lol. Agree to disagree I suppose. You are right about plastic being cheaper. It costs them less, which *should* cost us less, which it won't, and it feels much cheaper. If ceramic would work with wireless charging, I'd say that is what needs to happen. Glass backs start feeling gross after touching them for a while. I had to keep a case on my S7 edge always because of this. I'd love a premium feel with wireless charging.

Should i wait for it or get pixel 2 xl now?
If you get a cheap 2xl right now Google may have a trade in program like they did with the launch of the pixel 2 where they gave you a minimum trade in credit of $400 for the base model OG Pixel XL (2016) if it met their requirements. So it might be a good investment. I scored a [emoji209] on eBay for $420 with the 20% off coupon from two days ago.

The Internet
Android P will come with built-in notch support.

The notch will be an always-on notification area with white text on a black background using AMOLED.... somewhat how the old school Palm Pre using WebOS was supposed to be.

Well, that's just my assumption. That's the only way I'd accept a notched phone.. especially this one since the notch is very big.

dear google
1- remove the silly notch
2- add another camera on the back
3- use a plastic back cover (we all have case anyway) and catch up with the wireless charging
3- make the cover removable , same for the battery (yes it can still be ip67)
4- bring back the head phones jack
5- add an sd card slot
= Winning !

Ill even preoder that perfect phone if you build it*.

And they won't implement any of these :)

It's hard for me to decide if I'll purchase the Pixel 3 XL with just pictures of the outer design. I'll have to wait until it's officially revealed to see if there's any surprises that don't pertain to what we can make out in these leaked pictures. I would hope they have at least one surprise related to the Pixel brand or another piece of hardware for their upcoming 10 year anniversary of Android hardware (G1 smartphone).

1- they will not
2- they don't need to, they have the best camera with a single lens
3- you will never see a google flagship with plastic again so I would accept that pretty quick lol
4- same concept as 3
5- if you're not posting on XDA then you probably don't care about SD cards. 64 or 128GBs is enough internal

Jesus you're demanding alot. The only thing they might do is being bakc the headphones jack. And that alone is asking for alot

So this is interesting. I the Pixel XL 3 is indeed the phone displayed in the leaked images, you should all prepare your self for a downgraded device at a higher price point.

If the phone screen is actually 6.2 inches than that would equate to a screen size of 157.48 mm from corner to corner. For anyone in the camp of (anti notch) you will be able to black the notch area out, creating a bezel which from the measurements provided in the photo attached would be 8.1 mm in height. this would bring the full screen size of the device down to 149.38 mm or 5.88 inches. For example, on the current Pixel 2 XL, you can watch a video full screen with the whole 6 inches, if you do that on the new Pixel XL you will have a screen intrusion (the notch) so the largest actual 16.9 file you view on the Pixel 3 XL will be 5.88 inches.

What I have read thus far, the 3 XL will have:

• Same LG display
• Same max storage of 128 gigs internal
• Same 4 gigs of Ram
• Upgrade from Snapdragon 835 to 845
• Glass back (possible wireless charging)
• Dual front facing selfi cameras
• Significantly smaller front firing speaker (built into the notch)

I definitely will not be dropping over a thousand bucks for these minute changes, most of which i see as downgrades in the aesthetics and appearance of the device for day to day use.

I like this list. They could get more customers if they added these things

The most frustrating thing, in everday use of my phone, is just how much picture quality you lose when zooming in.

According to DxOMark, the current top of lines phones all include an Optical Zoom:
(Huawei P20, HTC U12+, S9 Plus, iPhone X)

Can Google choose to ignore this ?

But coming in with optical zoom is still better than digital zoom. Personally, I prefer wide angle lens over telephoto and have added that with a Sirui lens.

Edit:
Oh, you were saying digital zoom on the Pixel 2 XL is bad. Didn't read it that way at first. [emoji4]
