Yeah but front facing speakers + notch and a little chin is way better then the vivo full screen with a side speaker which still has a chin it's just a little smaller. Idk just my opinion the notch dosny bother me on my OP6 will see what the Pixel3 xl is all about.
^^^Yup! I will take FF speakers and bezels/notch ALL.DAY.LONG. Nothing worse than a crappy a__ speaker on the side of a phone. I listen/watch too much through my speakers to have it any other way.

Anyone using the software notch on their 2xl and why?
To see if I can tolerate that abomination on the Pixel 3 XL as I think the Pixel 3 will be too small for me..

Wife is getting my Pixel 2 XL so I need a new phone anyway....

Oneplus 6t may be my fallback....

Is this the only Pixel 3 Xl thread on Xda?

Have any pics been leaked of the device with the notch blacked out?

I would really like to see that before deciding. I need a new Android soon, but don't want a Samsung. Really something with minimal bloatware and easy to root

Any phone to be sold in the US has to pass FCC certification. FCC certifications are a matter of public record. If a third phone was to be made by Google it would also have to pass FCC certification. Only two phones were offered to the FCC for certification: the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL. Therefore no "Ultra" phone exists.

Once FCC certification has been achieved the design of the device cannot be changed or else the certification is rendered invalid. No such change has been recorded as changes are also part of the public record. Therefore, the Pixel 3 XL will have a notch.

The YouTuber's theory is disproven on the basis of the facts presented above. The reason for Google's possible request for undefined snippets of the YouTuber's review is unknown, and not relevant to the facts.

There's still a chance that the device that was certified by the FCC is not the one that has been leaked constantly over the past month. I'm hopeful that the device we've been seeing is just an early prototype and/or distraction for the media to keep the real Pixel 3 XL hidden, but that's unlikely.

Even if this isn't true and it does have an excessively deep notch, I'm still planning to buy one to replace my dying 6P.

Part of the FCC certification process includes images of the devices. There is no such thing as a "hidden" device: all devices MUST be certified by the FCC. There can be no changes to a device once certified.

There is a zero percent chance we're going to see a Pixel 3 XL without a notch. Zero.

Just curious.. how do we know that leaks released are from actually FCC certification?

I have to backtrack on something I said earlier. Checking the FCC regs, images are NOT required. I thought they were.

I apologize for the error.

That said, based upon information posted on the FCC website, such a radical redesign as the removal of the notch would entail would require Google to recertify the device.

That doesn't answer the actual question, but as noted already the image requirement was an error on my part. The renders and other images did not come from the FCC and therefore the leaks cannot be from the FCC.

You are assuming the notched device was the one registered with fcc

Any changes in design require additional paperwork, and in this case would most likely require a complete recertification, all of which would be noted in the public record. There is none of that present.

There are no assumptions here, only cold hard facts. Based not just upon the public record but the fact that Google lost a batch of Pixel 3 XL devices that somehow found their way into the hands of Russian bloggers as well as the P3XL left in a Uber/Lyft/whatever driver's car. There is no way Google would produce so many examples of a finished device only to bury it in favor of a device without a notch. Between the aforementioned leaks showing the physical design of the phone to the lack of FCC documentation regarding any changes to either Pixel 3 design, there is zero chance the P3XL will be introduced without a notch.

Now whether you choose to believe a YouTuber or choose to believe me is of no concern here. Just note that at least one of us is trying to make his argument using facts at hand and isn't dependent upon page hits to make a buck.

So what is the design in the FCC that you claims that needs to be changed? There is none, so therefore nothing has to be changed. A rectangle phone and a screen size, it's not blueprints. My only argument is you think you have stated facts but really haven't. Just your assumption. I'll make it even simpler, show me the FCC filing that even mentions or shows a notch
