You're missing the point. If the screen were redesigned to eliminate the notch, regardless of every single leak showing a notch in the phone, Google would need to get the entire device recertified. No such recertification has occurred, meaning the P3XL is going to have a notch.

Everyone is so desperate for Google to "see reason" regarding the notch that they have to latch onto conspiracy theories created by news outlets because of one YouTuber saying Google wanted to use a clip from him. The way the YouTuber presented it was designed to troll, and you all fell for it hook, line, and sinker. Because you've all become blinded by hatred of the notch.

We'll find out for certain next month.

I think what everyone is trying to say is there's no evidence that the device that was certified by the FCC is the one that we've been seeing in the leaks. The one from the leaks could be an early prototype that was later redesigned with a smaller notch/chin before being sent off to the FCC for certification.

The pictures in the opening post of this thread are of a prototype device. If a screen redesign were to happen it would have happened in the prototype stage. What the Russian bloggers have are examples of a finished product, meaning no screen redesign.

WYSIWYG.

One of the oldest, was out there long before LOL, TBH, and so on.

Edit... Oops, accidentally hit the post button. As to the notch, it's probably going to be there but the FCC is not proof positive. Google easily has the resources to make a few notched phones for just such shenanigans if they were of a mind. The device certified at the FCC could be sans notch. It could have a notch. We dont know which is true. Remember they need that certification for sale, not for prototype devices that were never meant for sale and were "lost". It all really depends on what they certified and the bottom line is that we don't know. But yeah, going back to the beginning it's likely got the notch and wishful thinking is largely the reason for this theory.

It doesnt even have to be made for "shenanigans" as you put it. Notch was a thing last year . Google could very realistically have been working on a prototype with that design.
The leaked phones had a screenshot of 4/5th July... and the reviewer on mobile-review said it was an alpha prototype.

There is no reason why Google couldnt have changed their mind.
A quick look at the FCC listing says Google has asked for permanent confidentiality about the block diagram of the phones being reviewed.. (180 days for the external/internal photos and the manual) . It is something they didnt do last year .
Another thing is that their could be a 3rd phone to be announced in Oct and go on sale before the holidays... like the iphone last year. the iPhone didnt get FCC certification till after it was announced and just before it went on for pre-order (in Nov iirc).. The two leaked phones could be 699/799 and a new one at 999 to basically compete with Apple.

None of this is proof that there is another phone.. But nothing contradicts the possibility of another phone either..

The biggest thing against the theory of another phone is the complete lack of leaks.

One if the things that struck me as peculiar, was if Russians stole a crate of phones it would definitely be all over the news, not just a few random YouTubers. It would be big news considering the state of our nation. There is no way around that which leads me to believe it's a hoax

My post was in reference to the idea that the FCC is proof positive of the notch being a certainty, it isn't. Many possibilities exist, and yeah, a 3rd phone is one of them. Is it likely? Not so sure, even a holiday release would have a number of evolved prototypes out there by now. On the other hand the leaks of the super notch phone are very convenient, egregious even when considering them in total. I imagine most of your recall the lost iPhones, it was serious business, goons n black suits in one of the cases but Google looses them by the case and give it a meh? That's a strange behavior for very expensive intellectual property/corporate secrets.
