General Pixel 6 & Pixel 6 Pro [ AUSTRALIAN ] thread

Great, new to ADB and all things pixel coming from Note. So I have root (only after bricking and fixing lol) but wondering if you can point in the direction where I might get some detailed instructions to do what you did, I think I get it but not 100% sure and with my track record it would end in tears. TIA.

Sure,

1. Make a backup of your phone data just in case.
2. Download the appropriate SQ1D.211205.016.A5 build for your pixel 6 or pixel 6 pro.
3. Extract the zip file and open flash-all.bat
4. Edit this line from

   fastboot -w update image-raven-sq1d.211205.016.a5.zip

   to

   fastboot update --disable-verity --disable-verification image-raven-sq1d.211205.016.a5.zip

   and save the file.
5. Reboot your phone into the bootloader.
6. Once in bootloader, plug your phone into your PC and run the flash-all.bat and wait for the process to finish.
7. Once it boots into android, root again with magisk.

I updated successfully to A5 and installed Kirisakura kernel with root and data remain. To my surprise, the mobile network quality is terrible, seems to even worse than A1 lol.
Both Optus and Telstra only max out at half the triangle icon.
I live in Tasmania

Method to upgrade every month, without wiping data and retaining root

Caution: I originally wrote this guide when it was necessary to disable verity and verification before flashing patched boot.img. Now Magisk has overcome this requirement and some users have reportedly flashed updates without disabling...

Tried several times keep getting this. Checked the folder and file bootloader-raven-slider-1.0-7892371 is in there.

Mine had issues with bootloader versions too, tried a bunch of stuff and eventually found the online flash method by Google. Installed with no issues. I think it was this site.

You don't need to do a wipe. There's a check box to disable wipe.

Also, as of Magisk Canary 23016, you no longer have to disable Verity and Verification, except for use with some custom kernels until the individual custom kernels fix this, then they shouldn't require it either.

I have no idea what I have done to my phone but it won't recoginise my phone in recovery mode. Tried different browsers, usb cables, usb debugging on and off nothing. So I went back to https://flash.android.com/ and it wanted to downgrade me, checked a few different options was finally able to select the latest and have now flashed back to a reset device with the latest update. So now to root and reset up. Thanks again for your help appreciate it and hope the this may help others. Cheers, I need a drink!

So does the A5 version increase or decrease 5G network speed? My Red Magic 6 pro is like double the 5G speed of the Pixel 6 pro.. Not very impressed tbh

I have seen a huge improvement in A5, went from like 60-80 down and up's of 20-30 to now around 280-320 ups to 50-80 downs. Not as good as my 5G home but lots better than it was.

For those still having issues with network connection and/or speeds, I've seen this suggestion mentioned in a few forums/groups and it's an easy one to try.

Basically, join the beta program for the 'Carrier Services' app in the Play Store, then download the updated version. I did this tonight and from a very limited sample size (only being able to test at home), I did notice my 5G speeds which are normally around 100-200Mbps in this location, get up to 300Mbps. I'll do some more testing tomorrow.
