I started having this issue after the February 5th Update. After reading through this thread it got me into thinking. I couldn't reproduce the issue into safe mode, I uninstalled new 3rd party apps and that didn't fix it. However, disabling the flip to shhh setting did! So disabling the sensor for when your phone is placed upside down to silence the phone seems to have resolved the problem for me. Let me know if this fixes it for others.
I'll try turning that option off. Since my last post all I did was keeping it outside of my pocket...

EDIT: Phone continues turning off when inside the pocket of my jeans.

Oh no, I just purchased this phone, and now im seeing this. Please tell me this phone has not the same hardware issue that had the pixel 4 xl: THE SCREEEN BENDING PROBLEM.
This old pixel 4 xl phone was full of people including me, that had random shuts down when phone was in the pocket (most commonly, on jeans pockets), and resulted to be the damn screen bending problem.
To check for this, you need to bend gently the screen from the sides, and see if it shuts down. I'll leave a video for reference on the pixel 4 xl problem:

Please, if this is the case also on the P7pro, report back, and tell when the phone has been purchased.

>> dutch_in_seattle what did you end up doing? Did you replaced your phone? Was the new one behaving ok?

That's a negative on bending or twisting 20 differents ways and phone shuts down. I also do not have an issue of phone shutting down while in my pocket. If you also have been reading this thread a handful of people are having this shutdown issue. You are probably safe.

So you don't have the issue, and bending in the corners (gently of course) will not make it shut down? Is that what you meant?

I have this same issue. The worst situation is that it shuts down just with a palm covering the phone.

I had sent it for a service warranty and the folks just returned my phone with a simple factory reset saying they didn't find anything wrong. I've had numerous phones in the past and this is by far the worst. It's even more amazing if we realize that the phone is from one of the best software companies in the world.

Here is the video recording in full glory :

Received mine yesterday. Not having this issue (nor the bending one), and the phone updated to last public android 13 release yesterday. Was trying out android 14 beta on my p6pro, but found it somewhat buggy (mostly the FP sensor not unlocking the device and so), so in this device will wait a while for a more stable release.

The issue you are having, does not seem like a hardware issue, so I found good news on that.
Why don't you try out android 14 to check?

I've had random shutdowns a couple times since I've gotten back. Well, more like hard locks and I've had to force a reset with up-vol and power.

That's exactly my problem.

I've been having this issue for a while..ive sent off my phone for repair.

It seems to be related to temperature. The screen would start to flicker green and then turn off completely but the phone would still be switched on. I'd have to hard reset to get the screen back on.

I've tryed installing the Android beta.
It keeps shooting down in my pocket or under pressure.

Now sometimes I get this screen for a few reboots after the problem.

maybe try to reinstall/reflash the beta OTA using Android Flash Tool or manually (with the beta image) if you know how or that's how you initially installed it...

ITS A DEFECT. YOU CAN REPLICATE THE ISSUE BY TAPPING AROUND THE SCREEN HARD WITH YOUR FINGERNAILS. THE ONLY WAY TO FIX THIS IS TO TAKE IT TO YOU BREAK I FIX BEFORE THE ONE YEAR MANUFACTURER WARRANTY GOES OUT AND HAVING THEM REPLACE BOTH THE SCREEN AND THE BATTERY THE TECHNICIAN THAT SERVICED MY PHONE DID NOT KNOW WHAT IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN SO I TOLD HIM THAT BASED ON SEARCH RESULTS THAT I HAVE FOUND IT'S ONE OR THE OTHER OR MAYBE BOTH SO HE JUST FIGURED TO COMPLETELY CHANGE THE SCREEN AND THE BATTERY AND IT FIXED MY ISSUE

I've finally decided to send it to get repaired after recording how to replicate the error (in my case, it's by pressing hard on the left middle of the screen).

My Pixel 7 Pro has started to randomly shut down every so often. Completely out of the blue, the screen will just go black and I need to long-press the power button to turn it back on. This started happening a couple of days ago. No idea why.
I don't know if there's any correlation, but this started happening after the December update.
Is anyone else seeing this, too? Any thoughts on what could cause this and how to remedy it?

    Thanks!

No, but I know who can fix it for free, because it's a brand new phone that's still under warranty...

This happened to me this morning. American Verizon service with December update installed.
The december beta had this problem so it might apply to the stable one as well, I suggest you update to the stable january build.

I tried updating to TQ1A.230105.002 today which I think is the latest stable Jan build..? And just got the random shutdown again.
I'd suggest to do a full factory reset while flashing all partitions, that's what I did and I don't have this issue anymore, otherwise it could very well be a hardware issue, but doing a full wipe is worth a try.
