I'm on the same boat as all the other user who commented about the pixel 7 pro. I'm the last I used the note 8 and the pen was just a pain to deal with not a good experience because it means you have to be extra careful not to lose it as it. At that point I didn't really enjoy Samsungs software as I feel that it's very gimmicky and at the end I barely used them. Like other oems mostly Chinese ones they just throw everything at the wall to see what sticks but that doesn't really translate to a good user experience. Yes given that the Pixel doesn't have the top line SOC but the software just fills that gap. All other phones I have owned from other oems i would have to flash some custom ROM either to get rid of the stock ROM or because I wanted some pixel features. One of the reasons was also that every single one of them on stock just felt laggy with the UI and stutter always. Having my pixel now since launch I never seen it stutter or lag during regular use. I have felt some small lags with games but I also use a beta build and not he stable ones. In terms of battery compared and sustain performance the pixel is up there with the s22 ultra and the camera department it just wipes the floor with it. There's a pretty neat video from an IPhone fan on youtube where two professionals photographers are put on a blind test against the iphone and the s22 ultra ( mind you both photographers are iphones users ) and the pixel just wipes the floor with both in terms of camera. I was thinking about he s23u but with that prices I will just wait for the next pixel. Software and user interface are second to none which is what matters in my opinion they got many thing right on this phone to the point that over months it has really made love this phone.

Well it is hard to know what can be removed and what will mess up the OS. Can you remove Bixby or some other Samsung software without causing issues? I have seen lists that say what is safe to remove and they conflict each other.

It would be nicer if Samsung simply allowed you to choose at setup what apps you want installed and what you don't without forcing your hand or hacking the OS. Just my opinion.
I also can say to get ADB AppControl! I use it on my Samsung Tab S7+ as well as my 7-Pro.
Remember that you are NOT truly removing anything! All you are doing is removing the apps from END USER 0 (zero) which is the default user = you. They are all still there if you break something. You can reinstall any of them or do a factory reset if necessary and they all come back. If you are uncertain about "removing" something then just disable it instead. If you decide later that you need/want it back then ADB AppControl will let you reenable it. Highly recommended!

I have both of these devices and I do switch it up from time to time but I always end up back on the S22U. 7P is awesome but the battery life is worse than the S22U. I think the 7P is a better point and shoot camera but the S22U is a more complete camera package. Also the S22U can cast to all the devices that the 7P does plus any of my smart TVs that do not have a Chromecast. When I am using my S22U I very much miss the 7P's assistant integration, voice dictation and the now playing on the lockscreen. In summary they are both great but if I had to keep one and sell one, the Pixel would have to go.

Yes :)

After switching from S20U and all I think is how fast I can get back :D I waiting for premiere and price drop for new S23U.

In My opinion this phone is build for Google testers not for customers. Poor UI, lack of tons of features that Samsung gives by default, lack for support for 5G, VoLTE and VoWiFi in most of the World, it's just to much to compasate by good camera and good AI.

Having been burned on my Galaxy S21 Ultra I say HELL YEAH go for it. From everything I've read and compared about the Pixel it definitely outclasses my S21 and in most cases ALSO outclasses the S22u .
But the biggest plus for me when making the conversion is finally leaving the Samsung ecosystem and everything related to it. From the unknown number of S21u that came out of the factory with a screen defect (obviously I was one of the lucky ones) to Knox and just... pretty much everything about these phones. I've been on Galaxy S phone since the S3 I think buying a new phone every couple of generations and the S21u killed it for me.

I briefly considered waiting on something new Samsung was going to reveal past the last few days but honestly hell no, even if p7 pro was worse than the Samsung phone (which it isn't under any comparison) then I'd still go with the p7 pro. Maybe if you're a Samsung fanboy and just knee-deep in whatever their unique perks are now then you should consider the S22U but otherwise? I see no reason to not get the Pixel and sell the Galaxy.

Build for Google testers? What the hell do you even mean with that statement? Being provided with a bloat free phone that works out of the box and can be customised however you like is not being a "Google tester".

Poor UI? That's VERY debatable. Plus did you know you can change it to your liking in tens of ways?
Lack of features from Samsung? One, which features? Two, obviously - you are not going to get Samsung Health by default on a phone that isn't made by Samsung. Do you also complain about lack of the apple app store when you get your Galaxy?

Lack of support for 5g, VoLTE and VoWiFI? This is a lie. Whether these services are available depends on your country and your mobile provider. It has nothing to do with the Pixel as it supports all of those formats.

To summarise, you gave strawman arguments at best against the phone and then ended with talking why its actually better except while trying to say its not enough to compensate for flaws that don't exist. Good try mate.

Also some practical question: can you see briefly a message when receiving one on the AOD like on Samsung
No. This was annoying coming from OnePlus where they integrated full screen message previews into the AOD. The Pixel just takes you to the lock screen when you get a message. I got a Galaxy Watch 4 Classic a week ago and I'm loving it for the ability to preview my messages without having to touch my phone. Didn't realize how much I missed that from the OnePlus.

I don't have an ultra but I do have an s22 plus. I also have the Pixel 7 Pro. Between the two I use the Pixel now almost excellent and I don't miss the Samsung or it's gimmick features.

Everyone has a different opinion and use case. The s pen is an advantage in certain situations if you don't have a tablet and need to sign legal documents. Otherwise on a small screen I don't see any real use for it.

The edge panels and Dex are things I will never use because I have other devices that fill in the gap.

I really hate all the bloatware on Samsung devices since time immemorial. Apps that you can't disable or uninstall, 3rd party apps preinstalled and of course the numerous duplicate apps. Then there is Bixby. Completely unnecessary and useless but you don't have a choice to get rid of it.

Despite all of the hate I have towards those things I like Samsung and the integration between PC, tablet, phone and watch. Very similar to Apple. I like Samsung back ups. I like some Samsung apps. I like the hardware on Samsung probably the best of any Android device out there.

So I am always torn on Samsung devices.

Considering the price of the Pixel 7 Pro and features it has everything I need and nothing I don't. Sure, there are a few Google apps I could live without but in general it is as close to software perfection that you can get on Android. Although the hardware is not as good as the Ultra it is really good for the cost. I also like the direction Google is taking with Tensor. Less about maximum performance that most phones throttle anyway and more about sustained performance and AI.

I have felt the 7 Pro is really good in terms of stability and reliability compared to previous Pixels which is a huge factor for me. The cameras are some of the best, certainly the best I have used on a smartphone, the screen is calibrated perfectly and just an absolute pleasure. The battery life is good enough and performance has been seamless. The UI and animations super smooth and pleasing. The modem to my surprise has been excellent.

I got this phone on sale and at less than the cost of the regular s22 MSRP it is simply hard to beat. Add Pixel exclusive features and feature updates and fast updates and it is one of the best phones out there.

Samsung s23 ultra will have better hardware for sure but does that translate into a better user experience is something only each of us can decide. I too, am extremely tempted by the s23 ultra but the cost of that phone is pretty crazy to me. Almost double what I paid for my Pixel 7 Pro and I can say with certainty that it is not double the phone!

Hello I received a confirmation from my usual shop that the S23U will be "at least" 200$ more than the S22U when it was released, which is way too much for me. So now I am contemplating (again) the Pixel 7 Pro . Am I crazy to be willing to replace my 1 year old S22U with a Pixel 7 pro ? Anyone here did the same and is happy or regret the move ? Also some practical question: can you see briefly a message when receiving one on the AOD like on Samsung
