Pixel Stand for the Pixel 2 XL

Hi, I was wondering why Google won't produce a Type C Pixel Stand for literally any android device (of course they won't because of their ecosystem and Pixel 3 exclusive), and so I was thinking that maybe there is some way to make it DIY, like putting the phone (in this case the Pixel 2 XL) on a classic docking station, maybe with a NFC tag that opens the Assistant's visual snapshot (at least for now)? I was really looking for something like this but honestly I think buying the Pixel 3 only for this and for the wireless charging is not worth. What do you guys think?

Was wondering the same thing. Even if it doesn't charge, can it be used as a dock for all of its other features that kinda make it like a Google home.

If someone confirm that it can be used as a dock for all the other features, I'll definetly buy and maybe add a USB type C connector by myself. Finger crossed

no, it cannot be. the features are triggered by the wireless charging and a special signal Google transmits via that

Well here is where I would come to find out. Pretty f-ing annoying if you ask me. Bought a pixel 2 xl 128gb right when they were coming out, ~$800. Crack in the screen now, been paying $7 a month for insurance and the deductible is now $200!?!? Anyway sorry for the rant. I'd be interested in finding a way for NFC to work, or qi wireless to hook into the pixel stand...
