Pixel XL and I moved from Grandfathered VZ Unlimited to new Unlimited, here's why

I said it before and I'll say it again. If you live in a large city then the chances of being throttled is a lot greater to happen than if you live in the middle of no where. I am on the new UDP and last month I hit over 80 gigs and no throttling happened. As I live in the middle of no where so not as many people as compared to a larger city. Now I am sure if I went to Richmond va I could almost bet ya I would of been. But you knew what you was getting in to when taking the new UDP that they might throttle ya so don't get all mad that it happened to you.

It stated from day one after 22 gig you could see a slowdown in your area as they would prioritize those who hasn't hit the 22 when there was tower congestion. What's so hard to understand there? Everyone who was slowed down was after they hit their 22. Sure there's more of a chance to get throttled in a larger city as there is more of a concentration of people in a bigger cities than people that lives in smaller towns and counties. So they have no right to get angry. Ignorance isn't an excuse. No I am not a Verizon rep just a lucky person not to live in a large city so I can enjoy full data speeds lol

however
using pdanet still uses data
so if u go over 22gb of data usage in a billing cycle
u will ill be "deprioritized" for the remainder of the billing cycle
which could negatively impact ur data speeds
and hence ur pdanet speeds
vzn keeps saying that cell data doesnt get throttled
only hotspot will get throttled after 10gbs/mo usage
ill believe it when i see it

if u have the old school unlimited "nationwide" plan
beware
if u use >=200gbs of data in a billing cycle
u will get booted from that plan

in fact prob worth u calling into vzn
to confirm wut the data usage limit is before u get kicked

In the last two years I've used upwards of 3 to 400 gigs probably 15 or so times. In the past year I have used nowhere near the data as I am not on the road for work any longer. I don't use my phone to tether much and even though I do have the carrier provision disabled I just pay for tethering when I need it (With my discount it's only .62¢ a day). I see no issues, but it's still in the back of my mind if I do start using that much data again.

Actually yes it is. To throttle something is to restrict slowdown the regular flow. Be it air, fluids, or data speeds. Slowdown is a word carriers chooses to use because throttling leaves such a bad taste in people mouths over the years. It is one and the same. Nothing says I won't ever be throttled. It could happen. Nothing is certain that's for sure.

If that happens to me I will rip Verizon a new one. They specifically said there is no throtteling, only delayed 4G connections if you are no longer on the priority list.

I've ripped them a new one many times...Once your off the old unlimited there's now going g back!!

If they wouldn't have took away my UDP then I would still keep it. I had no choice in having to get the new plan. As I have ATT UDP and well where I live the coverage is bad. We need good connection where I live.

I know with me I was 300gigs but it was my only source of internet where I live so lots of Netflix and Hulu. Now I am at about 80gigs for the first month. I have satellite TV so no need for Hulu or Netflix so it saves a lot on data.I heard between 200 and 250 for the old data plan. If I knew where my letter is I could tell you exactly.

Just keep in mind they can cancel that old UDP at anytime if they really wanted it. I feel this new UDP is a last ditch effort to move people off the old plans. I feel after while they will terminate all the old plans.

i went over 200gb per billing cycle
vzn told me that was the cutoff pt
is that accurate?
who knows
thats why i recommend u call vzn
speak with more than 1 SUPERVISOR
get the data "limit" number
get their name dept and eply id or internal ext
and try to get it in writing from them

EDIT:

if u have been with vzn for a long time
(for me >12 yrs)
and always pay ur bills on time
u can get onto vzn new udp
and get price matched to tmobiles udp
which is $100 for 2 lines
that includes line access fees
also includes taxes
if u get a vzn supervisor on the line
he/she should match the vzn udp cost to the tomobile udp cost for at least 12 mos
this all assumes that tmobile is still offering this lto

I couldn't agree more. They want these old udp gone...I am a cord cutter, but have comcast and average around 900 gb a month with them. (Can't believe ISP is now doing data caps_1tb limit) anyway, I'm just gonna try and stay below 80 and hope it lasts. If I'm not dl my roms, and crap all the time I'll be alright. I can now use work internet for work....

to be fair
good play by vzn to even allow the gradfathering in of the udp until now (and for however long it lasts)
silly thing is that vzn makes more $ off us on the old udp vs the new udp (sales $... obvi cant say for sure wrt profit $s)
but in this case vzns concern is more with our data usage than $s generated from us old udp users

It might be, I pay 47 and change after taxes for 75 mb. Speed. It's very consistent and works great with PS4. I have Netflix and Roku. And with my Comcast I get on demand with the Roku app. news and crap is just local channels, with antenna. I get around 60 channels with my antenna and They are mostly 1080 run thru media center and also use that as my pvr
