Why are people just giving up their old unlimited plan instead of selling it before switching? I'm scared of the new plan but if I do ever get rid of my old one I'd sell it

I had no idea you could sell it. I'm unsure about going to the new one myself. There is some kind of catch down the road. I have never been throttled either.
Geez there some on there for 4000 bucks

Exactly. I average around 30-40 GB a month for like 8 years now. Never been throttled and I can use hotspot as much as I want.

Ive thought about giving up my grandfathered UDP also.. I use like 3GB a month.. So I really wouldnt have to worry about ever hitting the 22GB limit and such.

What bothers me is how the OP, while staying "unlimited" has to limit himself on the new plan. That's not very unlimited to me and is why I don't really want to switch.. on pure principal.

Torn.

They have been trying to get us if this plan for years. Far as I'm concerned, If staying on it sticks it to the man a little longer so be it lol.

forget abt principle
money talks
if ur using 3gb/mo
then forget abt the new udp
would make more sense to consider a new "limited" data plan
u will save $
and i believe the new limited data plans have rollover data
however
these plans may actually throttle after u go over ur agreed upon data
regardless
u bpaying more with ur existing plan than with a new plan (udp or o/w)
food for thought :)

I called Verizon again just not to confirm that they do not throttle as I'm way over my 22gb threshold and they said again that it's the connection to 4G that is delayed in congested areas, not the speed of the 4G.

Additionally I told them that my wife wants us to switch to T-Mobile as they have a promo for $100 for 2 lines w/ unlimited data, talk, text. Verizon price matched me right away w/ no issue. So I'm at $100 a month on Verizon now w/ 2 unlimited lines (was on the grandfathered, I'm the OP in this thread) and now I'm saving a LOT of money w/ this price match, and being able to use data in Mexico and Canada (going to Mexico next month and wife is Canadian), plus being able to use the hotspot even though it's 10GB w/ the press of a button instead of the backwards hack is just so much better... Apparently if you use the tether hack it then doesn't count against your 10GB as an FYI.

I have and will continue to sometimes use more than that (when Im on vacation and let the kids tether to my phone n such). So a limited plan doesnt really interest me at all.

But reading here that VZW is price matching TMobile is very interesting.. 3 Lines unlimited on VZW would be 170, on Tmobile its only 140.. Thats like 100 bucks a month less than I pay now (but includes ins and roadside on 2 lines) for an unlimited line and a 4gb shared plan for my other 2 lines.

Interesting.

the price matching is key
note that tmobile includes all line access fees and taxes
so if u go get price match from vzn
make sure that vzn doesnt charge u for those
wrt ur overall plan
ur still going to save $ on the new udp vs the old udp
w or wo price match
question becomes the throttling (or lack thereof) on the new udp
further note as has been stated earlier in this thread
that if under the old udp
if u go over a certain data usage per month
u will automatically get kicked off ur old udp
i went thru a lot of calls with vzn
just want to shr my knowledge so that others dont get screwed :)

fantastic
glad to hear u got the price match
u should confirm with vzn that ur $100 includes all line access fees and taxes
bc that is wut tmobile is doing
says so right on the front of tmobiles website
u should be able to get both covered by vzn
for as long as u have the $100/mo price match deal
:)

if u have the old school unlimited "nationwide" plan
beware
if u use >=200gbs of data in a billing cycle
u will get booted from that plan
full stop
just happened to me without any warning
in fact prob worth u calling into vzn
to confirm wut the data usage limit is before u get kicked
That's allot of data dude. I don't think I have ever gone over 50. I been thinking about getting on that new plan from my grandfathered one. But something scares me about it. There's got to be some kind of catch. I dunno lose my discount to. But It would save me 40 bucks. Did they let you get on the new plan?[/QUOTE]
sorry just seeing this
yes they let me get onto the new plan
with a tmobile price match
see most recent msgs for deets
can explain further if not clear

Basically going from 2 Grandfathered unlimited plans to the new unlimited plan with the T-Mobile price match of $100mo they gave me it's really a no brainier. That is a lot of money I am saving and the ability to use up to 200GB with out getting kicked vs the possibility of being throttled which I haven't yet as I am now at 40gb in my cycle just didn't make financial sense. Sure I miss the days of using over 1TB of data on occasion but with wifi at home and my office I should be good.

Boop boop, commenting again.

I hit 40gb. My connection has slowed drastically all across the board. Whether I'm at the house, work, mall, my connection speed is **** now.

It has slowed to a whopping .8mbps, multiple test thought the day all stick with the same results. I'll check again when it gets dark.
update
data usage at 26gb
ran speedtest
dl 60-80mbps
ul 18mbps
los angeles
will provide updates as i go

Does anyone know of a way to track how much of the 10GB Hotspot data we are using? It seems that Verizon may have dropped the ball on tracking this for it's customers as the My Verizon app has no options for this.
