I have the note 7, will wait to go hands on before I decide. Will sell one of the phones on swappa lol
Leaning towards pixel tho. Seamless updates is gonna be nice. Kinda tired of waiting for Samsung's software updates.

I'm out. Have the note and its amazing but even with slightly ****tier design, I'm eager to leave the clutches of carriers and also kind of get behind the first movement that has long legs that could eventually make people second guess their iPhone. In two or three years Google may win this thing and this is step one. Keeping that in mind who are we, android faithful, not to back them up?

This lag is killing me!! Battery isn't so great either. Might have to bust a move over to the pixel. 6P was a great phone. Not a big fan of HTC thought.

No sdcard , 2.0f camera (bad lowlight performance), not water resistant...
And historically mediocre to poor build quality. Does not seem too enticing.

1. SD card is not relevant for most people at 128GB. AND, UFS storage is MUCH faster than an SD card. I will take the Pixel XL's storage option over a 64GB Note7 with SD any day due to faster performance.
2. f/2.0 does not mean bad performance LOL. It has a LARGER sensor which is the most important factor here. AND HDR+ which combined RAW image files to produce the best .JPG possible. Even the Nexus 6P produces better low-light images most of the time than the Samsung phones out right now. You couldn't be more wrong.
3. Water resistance would be nice, agreed.
4. HTC is building the phone. I doubt the build quality will be bad.

In terms of hardware, dollar for dollar, you get much more out of Samsung. The build of the Note7 is nothing short of fantastic. It has the best display in any phone, period. I doubt the Pixel phones will reach its level of performance. Plus, with the edge screen, the side bezels are practically invisible. It looks GORGEOUS without a case on the phone (I haven't used a case this week and am loving my Note7 even more). Plus you get the S-Pen, the water resistance, and a better looking phone.

But software wise, apart from Samsung's added features, the Pixel will crush the Note or any other Samsung device which is really important. The software is what makes the phone... my Note7 still lags frequently, and it drives me insane. The only reason I've stuck with the Note is the display and camera. It sounds like the Pixel will take care of the camera, but jury is still out on the display. They had BETTER include a brightness ramp actually built into the OS this time for outdoor viewing, and hopefully the glass reflectiveness is low like the Note. The Note is a joy to use in a brightly lit car, or even outdoors, but other phones... not so much.

Prefer Pixel XL than Note7

I recommend Pixel XL, because Note 7 heat issue is exceedingly irksome, I hope Google phones don't have this issue.

So it's not about the phone, it's about looks now??
Umm... Where the screen is in relation to the bottom edge if the phone IS about the phone... It affects finger and hand placement.

That's why he said he would need to try it out first.

Right, functionality is hindered by the bezels and chin of the phone. Got ya.

It is... Depending on the size of your hand, it makes it harder to reach and touch things. Not a hard concept to understand, really... Might not be an issue for you, but that doesn't mean it isn't for others.

For instance I HATE the small lower bezel on my 6P. I have big hands and long fingers and find that it would be much more comfortable for me if the bottom of the screen was higher. So I look forward to the arrangement on the Pixel XL.

But other people have different sized hands and fingers and may have a different experience.

Well with the latest reports of the replacement Note7s being defective I think your question is answered. If these reports are true then i would imagin the Note7 is a gonner.

I love the design of the Note 7, but with all of the problems (including on the 'fixed' devices), I wouldn't take one for FREE...

I have the Note7 and the 6P and the 6 still but I find a few compelling reasons (compelling to me) to stick with the Note7 for now. First, I have no qualms in using/charging the Note, my original one charged cool as a cucumber and so does the replacement. I love the size of the bezels on the Note so for me it does make a difference of how the phone looks since I look at the damn thing a thousand times a day. Same goes for the screen, it's as good as it gets right now in a smartphone. One thing that I have grown really accustomed to is Samsung Pay, I love it and use it everyday! I wish it was Google that bought that company a few years ago that allows you to use the phone at basically any credit card terminal. That functionality alone has made me reluctant to swap my SIM card into my 6P and drive it around once in a while. Battery wise for me has been more than acceptable to really good if I turn off the always on display (which I don't cause I have wireless charging at my desk and my phone can recharge while I type this). The software for me is not that good and there are lags that I do not experience in my N6. Nova Launcher, Google Dialer, N icon pack goes a long way to make me "feel" more like home. In my opinion, if the new Pixel XL looked more like a late 2016 phone and not an early 2015 phone, along with a few other nice to haves like waterproofing, forward facing speakers, etc. it would have gone a long way to justifying the cost of the phone. If the new software is "revolutionary" then the design should have mirrored it, no?
My two cents
