...you can find system images for this phone:

ro.build.description=marlin-user 7.1 NDE63H 3256426 release-keys
ro.build.fingerprint=google/marlin/marlin:7.1/NDE63H/3256426:user/release-keys
ro.build.version.release=7.1
ro.build.version.security_patch=2016-10-05...
Can someone tell us about exact kernel_version: 3.18 or 4.x ?

Google confirmed the versions bought on Google store will have unlockable bootloader's. Verizon is the only ones that are not unlockable. It was live streamed on CNET. HTC doesn't have a say in either.

By official images i mean official images published by google not pulled from any user. Cause we don't know how he found or pulled them . They could not be official images.

As you can see in the quote below from Llabtoofer's site-

What's the point in commenting, if you are not a developer and/or don't know what these files can be used for?
There are always uses for pre-released files and system dumps.
Whether for digging through files to see what's included, what features lie within, etc,...or for simply porting the software or bits and pieces of the software to "other" devices.
Those are just two very obvious reasons why the files would be of interest to developers.
This is XDA! There is always a point in having new software... :good:

Linux 3.18 is Dec 2014 old, and 2017 will bring 5.0; don't you think google should drop linux' appellation IF they can't "mix" 4.x (Googlux (?)). For 700$ , the dream was on graphene, ARA and kernel Livepatching :
https://www.blackhat.com/docs/us-16...Ameliorate-Android-N-Day-Root-Exploits-wp.pdf

It's still 3.x. No Android phone has >=4.0 yet.
Thx to early @LlabTooFeR image, some could make clear the exact kernel_version ?
(Also bringing hope for kexec compatibility (multirom) would be awesome...)

Hmm, looks like bootloader related stuff goes through htc? Just pulled this from Pixel XL dump.

Even the After-sales of the Pixel will be handled by HTC in India atleast. Seems like those leaks posted by Evan Blass about HTC's involvement are kinda true.
There were rumours that Google would now be closely moderating it's next batch of Nexuses; So maybe these Pixels were made in close lookouts with HTC.

dont be so sure..pc mag said this today..

"Even though we tested a Verizon Pixel, the bootloader was not locked. That means rooting and installing ROMs is possible; that should allay some fears about Google turning the Pixel into a closed realm. "

http://www.pcmag.com/review/348519/google-pixel-xl

Do not get your hopes up especially if you only found it from one source. Also they got it like that because they are professional reviewers I assume. Or they were not using an actual verizon pixel xl besides google and verizon actual store say verizon version has locked BL so again dont get your hopes up should have just gotten a play store version if you want root.
