Weird, I had that update too and I was fine...A bit off topic but I wanted to put this out there and see if anyone else had the same thing happen... I updated an app in the playstore tonight called "Android System Intelligence" by Google and it caused me to lose root. I just reflashed the January release with Pixel Flasher and everything went back to normal. Not sure why it happened, but I just wanted to let you know to keep an eye out for the update. Sorry for posting this here but thought you should know about it.
I've never had an issue with this app before but when I updated it this time I lost root. Couldn't have even been anything else, I haven't updated anything since yesterday and nothing that could have the ability to remove root access has been done in a while. Very strange, I can't figure it out.
Probably need to flash to both slots.i had a question about the issue im having with the flasher. i have a google pixel 6a IN2015 running android 13 and whenever i add the factory image to it then add custom rom to flash and so far every Rom error's saying its missing the boot file, but it flashes flawlessly using fastboot. anyone know why im not about to flash custom with the flasher
Thanks I'll try that
no,
For this support.zip would help, I'm curious to see what is going on.After flashing my Pixel 5 and having the aforementioned hang on reboot, used to update my wife's 5a. Detected device via ADB, all went well until commanded reboot to bootloader. ADB ceased to work, could not detect device even via command line, even after killing PF and using command line to kill then start server. PC reboot got ADB working again, and was able to subsequently continue flashing with PF.
PF did not hang this time, got Completed message when device rebooted to bootloader and subsequently live booted the patched image
One is PF console log (the one on the left), offering a bit more verbose messages (as if it is not verbose enough)
We do have a way to do this....we'd basically have to delete your support threads, then move this thread to one of the device sections, then move to each new section with a redirect, so there would basically be a "chain" of redirects that would end up at this thread here. Pain in the ass but that's how we did this. There are redirects in the Pixel 2 through 4a 5g sections that all point to one thread; there's unfortunately no way to create standalone symlinks, at least not with our Xenforo configurationno,
I wish the forum supported linked threads, basically a single thread would show up in the relevant forums by just creating a symlink, without needing to have separate threads in each.
Yeah, I get itPF issues / questions / releases are all common,
Often I have to answer the same question in different forum, because the user posts it in their phone version's forum, if it was a single thread, the answers would be seen by all.
The other advantage is that I wouldn't need to create full threads in 5a, 4, 4a, 4xl ... you get the drift.
I just haven't created those, thinking that the usage is minimal.
Read up boiiiiFor this support.zip would help, I'm curious to see what is going on.

The other with flash options is a fastboot flag.
Sweet, that is very cool, that's exactly what I need.We do have a way to do this....we'd basically have to delete your support threads, then move this thread to one of the device sections, then move to each new section with a redirect, so there would basically be a "chain" of redirects that would end up at this thread here. You get messages like these

We have specific areas of responsibility, unfortunately mine does not include Google. @roirraW "edor" ehT is assigned to this section, and was the one who discovered the ability to do this.Sweet, that is very cool, that's exactly what I need.
Assuming that it is not too much trouble on Moderators, only if knew one![]()
YepCan threads be merged into one thread so that past notes are not lost?
Unfortunately no one has volunteered yetMore importantly, I love that thread you started, thanks for pointing out, I would have never noticed.
If that approach works (I need to read up on it) I can easily add support for it in PF to simplify the whole process.
Thanks, I'll reach out to @roirraW "edor" ehT that would make it so much cleaner and better for everyone. We have specific areas of responsibility, unfortunately mine does not include Google. @roirraW "edor" ehT is, and was the one tho discovered the ability to do this.
Yep

I might,
@V0latyle wasn't saying that one of my areas of responsibility are the Google sections (they're not) - he was just saying that I introduced him to the idea of the "hardlinked" threads that I had noticed. Thanks, I'll reach out to @roirraW "edor" ehT that would make it so much cleaner and better for everyone.
I might,
I have a PIxel XL, and the only reason I don't flash other things on it is because I have unlimited full quality photos / videos upload, so I keep it for that.
But I heard that there are Magisk modules that give you that ability, so if that works, I might use the XL for experimentation.
Thanks for the clarification.@V0latyle wasn't saying that one of my areas of responsibility are the Google sections (they're not) - he was just saying that I introduced him to the idea of the "hardlinked" threads that I had noticed.
You can find the list of moderators and the sections they cover here at all times:
Forum Admins and Moderators PUBLIC
docs.google.com
The Google sections are considered "Other" currently.
My mistake, I thought they were.@V0latyle wasn't saying that one of my areas of responsibility are the Google sections (they're not)
Yep. You could find it easier to use the Report button on one of your threads which will pop up for all the mods in this area, and just explain what you want to do and to contact you via PM for more detailsThanks for the clarification.
So any one of the moderators listed under "other" should be able to help me out?
If so, I'll reach out to one.
Many thanks.
You could just answer PixelFlasher questions in this thread, regardless of where the question was asked. Use the "Quote" button where you find the question, come here and "Insert quotes" in the "Reply" box....

I'm not sure what performance has to do with anything, I assume it is lost in translation.
To learn how to do things, it's best you follow one of the guides, it teaches all the manual steps.
There are few excellent guides that you can find in PF help menu under links.
Definitely all those guides show you the manual steps you need to do on the phone to get it OEM unlocked and then the bootloader unlocked, bootloader unlocking can also be done in PF, but the manual ones on the phone like OEM unlocking, setting up developer mode and enabling adb, all those are per-requisities that need to be done manually and are covered it the guides.
a solution to the problem?
Hey Badabing2003, I don't think PF is going to help the person you're messaging with. They need to find "rooting 101" and learn everything from scratch. Probably isn't a good idea for them to learn how to root with an expensive device either, they should definitely start with an older phone if they have one. Everyone has to start somewhere but they're in the wrong thread and need to do a little more searching. Good job with the advice and patience though. In the future when I ask for support.zip, please click on the big Support button and pass me the generated zip file.
1- You are using the OTA file, you need to use the Factory image
2- You need to have OEM unlocked and bootloader unlocked if you want to root
3- if you just want to flash OTA and don't want to root, then select custom flash and choose your OTA file and select SIDELOAD from the dropdown choice.
In the future when I ask for support.zip, please click on the big Support button and pass me the generated zip file.
When you unzip the Android Platform ToolsI follow your instructions but no way to work .please see the support
ERROR: The selected path \\Ds\ds\Downloads\platform-tools_r33.0.3-windows does not have adb and or fastboot
That's not how you do it, don't just get the adb and fastboot files, unpack the Android Platform Tools 33.0.3 (not 34.0.1) and when you point PF where it is, point where adb and fastboot are , the other files in there are not decoration, they need to be there.I create a new folder into the Platform tools and I put only the adb and the fast boot .
Since that is the first time and I'm already rooted from January without updating till now I will use for 1st time this tool . Do i have to care for something else ?
If you follow the number sequence in basic usage, that is the main usage, everything else is additional features / tools.yes, and on github too. Wasn't sure if the table in the middle will apply just the boot or the whole image and found the "Flash Boot" button or root process undescribed. Also manual describes "Flash Pixel Phone" button as it flashing boot only in all the points, so i'm not sure if it does the OTA update.

PLEASE DO YOUR PART AND READ / SEARCH / RESEARCH BEFORE USING THIS PROGRAM
AND/OR ATTEMPTING ANY MODIFICATIONS ON YOUR DEVICE.
THIS PROGRAM ASSUMES THAT YOU ALREADY KNOW HOW TO AND HAVE ALREADY UNLOCKED
YOUR BOOTLOADER, ALREADY ROOTED YOUR DEVICE, AND KNOW HOW TO USE ANDROID SDK
PLATFORM-TOOLS, ETC.
THIS TOOL IS SIMPLY MY QUICK WAY OF UPDATING THE FIRMWARE WHILE ROOTED WITH
MAGISK, WITHOUT LOSING DATA / REQUIRING A WIPE.
MODIFYING YOUR DEVICE COMES WITH INHERENT RISKS, AND IT'S NOT MY RESPONSIBILITY
IF YOU LOSE YOUR DATA OR BRICK YOUR DEVICE. THE TOOL I SHARE HAVE WORKED FOR ME,
BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THAT YOU MAY NOT RUN INTO PROBLEMS. **BACKUP YOUR DATA.**

Here's a complete flow diagram of the patching process, hope it makes it clearer.Forgive me if I've asked this before....does ADB shell need root access in order for Pixel Flasher to patch the boot image via Magisk?
In other words, will the automatic patching work on unrooted devices?
Thanks for your consideration, appreciated.@badabing2003 , I really like your work, well done, I couldn't find a donation link, can you please provide me with that. Thanks and keep up the good work.
