FYI, tonight I installed a (recovery-flashable) version* of Stock PL1 on my phone ... which only has the NC4 bootloader firmware on it.

Seems to be working. Initial testing (sensors, calls, SMS/MMS, camera) shows no problems so far.

Stay tuned, I might want some testers (w/ NK1, OB6, or OF1 bootloaders) down the road a bit after I'm convinced it is actually stable to run this way with mixed bootloader/ROM. (I note lots of compaints from QSEECOM in the kernel log)

I suppose there are rooted-stock folks who would prefer to have the security bug fixes of PL1 on their phone, but don't want to Odin to PL1 for fear of being permanently shut out of root. Or just a ROM where the GPS actually works well, or has S-pen apps, etc. Dunno though - not sure how many people visit this forum any longer.

cheers

* I killed off SDM, SyScope, LocalFOTA, Knox stuff, etc but other than that did no de-bloating.

Sounds good, now if you can see if it'll run with idle kernel or lean kernel, I think you'll have a winner!

Don't know why BT wouldn't work - it's basically a pure stock ROM. So far I've only paired to a laptop and transferred a few large image files - that seems to work. I can try pairing to a BT OBD2 reader and see how that goes, but I don't have any audio gear with me right now to try calls or listen to music.

I need to run some more with it to convince myself it is stable. Had two reboots after about 10 hours of uptime (each time), and have made two changes to see if that improves the stability. (There is also a possibility that a 3rd-party kernel might improve stability but there's no way to know without trying stuff out.) Stay tuned.
