First of all, I live in Europe and have ZL 6502. Because of low network I entered *#*#4636#*#* and in Phone information tried to change the Radio Band but only available was US BAND. I ve tried flashing 4.1.2 - 10.1.A.1.434 - GLOBAL, and Generic LAM (b) Generic GEL 1271-5120 10.3.1.A.0.244 R5B version, but still shows only US radio band available. PLEASE HELP ME if there is ANY way how to get EURO BAND. Which firmware I should flash?

PS. My phone is not rooted, with locked bootloader, I will do it ONLY if its necessary.
Thanks

Just reload the software using PC Companion from Sony, and DON'T select a band when you're done.

I did that too... So I got a suggestion on xda to do a full factory reset. It solved the problem.
Also, try to stay away frm such settings that u know nothing about( I once did that nd had a hard time). Tinkering with them causes a lot of headaches(a lot of backuping nd stuff)
Hope it helps.. Don't forget the thanks buton on ur left :D

I already did that, and the phone I mean network works more or less ok, but I was wondering if there is a way somehow to change the radio band. Because US Band works on diffrenet frequencies than EURO Band, and I think it would be more compatible wit my carrier.
Thank you both for the reply :)

Budddy afaik, ucan switch to bands which r given in that settings menu only, meaning u can not set any other band which isnt listed.

Dont forget the thanks!

YES, I understand that, but I was asking IF there is a way to CHANGE the US Band only, via FLASHING or INSTALLING or MODIFYING firmware or something else, to have NEW RADIO BAND choices like Automatic or Euro Band, Japan Band etc..

No unfortunately there is no way that u can change bands other than provided.
I wud also suggest to ask this on another forum, bcuz u wont find many ppl here. U might wanna try Xperia Z forum or try searching on xda GENERAL.
thats the most i can help.
Good luck!

How low is your signal?

The countries of Europe use the dual band frequencies of 900-1800. The US uses mainly 850-1900.

But the Xperia ZL C6502 supports all of these:

C6502/L35H
UMTS HSPA+: 850 (Band V), 900 (Band VIII), 1700 (Band IV), 1900 (Band II), 2100 (Band I)
GSM GPRS/EDGE: 850, 900, 1800, 1900

Well the signal strength varies from time to time, I rarely get full network bars, usually is 2 or 3 bars. But I`ve noticed that in some places where using my HOX has full bars the ZL has one or no bars (by using the same sim card to be sure about the carrier and network strength). That is why I was wondering if there was a way to somehow change/add Radio Band on my Xperia ZL.
Please tell me when you try to change the radio band via *#*#4636#*#* does it show ONLY US Band or you might have more options to select? Please inform me, at least I want to know is it same to all Xperia ZL 6502 or just mine and those from US.
Thanks

When going to *#*#4636#*#* and then phone information, it lists info for Data which is set to LTE in my case but nothing for Voice. You need to go to *#*#7378423#*#* >> Service Info >> Configuration to look at your Bands.

Mine are GSM850, GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900. My phone is a C6506.

My signal indoors doesnt have full 5 bars either, it will be between 2-3 bars. Outside, ill have usually the maximum but sometimes 4. At my work I have 0 bars because of the building I work in but even with 0 bars my signal never drops. The bars are not perfect, they are just a representation of your signal more or less.

As long as your signal doesnt drop, I wouldnt worry too much about it unless you have real poor reception outdoors.

Sorry for the late reply

You shouldn't have any issues with your phone. Your C6502 supports the proper frequencies which include pretty much everything apart from LTE. Only C6503 and C6506 support LTE. I don't believe you can flash a baseband to obtain LTE since it is also related to the hardware.

If you really feel like the reception is an issue, I would bring the phone back to where you bought it and have them verify with another ZL if the same type of signal is acquired by the phone but honestly, I don't think you have a problem.

But you be the judge of that.... :p

Good Luck!

I thought also that i have the proper bands on the phone, but that`s why its so strange when using *#*#4636#*#* in the Phone info when selecting the 3 dots Select radio band ONLY shows US Band, I should be able to have more choices.
This is why I`m asking if you have the same option, or are there ANY Xperia ZLs that have more selective options than US Band only.
Thanks

I checked in my phone the *#*#4636#*#* and I I only have USA Band which I assume is normal for me since I live in Canada. But this information is for data reception (3G, H+, LTE) not for making/receiving phone calls.

The best thing for you to do is to walk in a store that has this phone on display and verify that its configured like yours so you know there's nothing wrong with yours.
