Well im looking for a way to create custom recovery aswell, i am looking into the samsung phones and how they run through initramfs on boot and figure out how they get a custom recovery on their phones. im just a student. bought my tab from japan on a trip, so i cant afford to brick it. Once i have a custom recovery, i can finally feel safe. I have a U8160 with custom recovery and so i have got some experience of how powerful a custom recovery is.

I am bumping this topic up, just in case. I am not sure if condi's work fullfill the requirements of this bounty or not. I suppose we have not really unlocked the bootloader, only found a way to circumvent it.

Can anyone clear up if we can indeed create our own kernels (with OC, for example), and install recoveries?

I don't think so.

I think it is time for a petition. We might not be many, but this might force Sony to reconsider its treatment of its already small fanbase.

What do we have to get to...

What do we have to get to for this to get attention... at what dollar amount will people want to take this on?

I would consider $50 If this is successful!

Interesting idea. what would be the testpoint??
Inside :D.

Is the wire just attached to the outside of micro USB, it is hard to see.

Chur

EDIT: Just read on thread that it is attached to outside which is ground..... We may be onto something here.

Might have to open it again lol

With such a little charge, there obviously isnt a risk of shotting the device. I think we should try it! :)
Tried the 'dot' nearest to the top, on the basis that is was the only one covered by the black layer of casing.

Small spark and would not boot until i removed USB.

Still runs ok
