I believe for the price, it is acceptable. Even though does have a lag. Debloated some apps and waiting to try eu rom once unlocked to see if makes a difference.

Hey i'm coming from an old moto z and i was wondering if this is worth the purchase? I'm not a heavy user by any means , i don't game much if at all , i'm more or less looking for a device that i can take a picture every now and then with , listen to music mostly and browse social media and whatnot , in regards to those aspects does it handle them smoothly? I mean hardware wise the snapdragon 662 should capable enough to handle these things. I keep hearing issues with lag and its a bit discouraging although the price tag is VERY tempting so i was hoping i can get much needed real life clarification, thank you in advance.

Well, if you remove bloatware and run on the latest MIUI 12.0.5, I'd say the lag is acceptable, especially with your usage.
However, it's still a bit odd for a snapdragon 662, not the best optimization there.
Also, with GCam I'd say pictures are alright but with the default MIUI camera, photo quality is not acceptable imo.

Overall it's a good device for its price, but don't expect the best out of it based on the hardware.

Hi, I ordered the poco m3 2 and a half weeks ago, my question is: when it arrives, i will have all the lag fixes updates on my phone? I will need to update the phone? ty.

Depends on your version. Based on MIUI 12 update tracker (XDA article), only the European version got the 12.0.5 release with the lag fixes. Global seems to remain on 12.0.3 for now.

So if you're outside EU, you'll likely have to wait a bit longer.

Slower than Mi 8 Lite, when I open/switch app, even though Mi 8 Lite is eMMC 5.1. Both are running MIUI 12 Stable by Xiaomi.eu.
I think M3's Xiaomi.eu ROM has problem, because when I got M3 with stock ROM, it's running smoother.
I will change to AOSP or something like that when it possible, for better performance.

Hi guys, I just bought the Poco M3 and I find it very slow, not only on opening apps but also things like opening recent apps menu, popping up keyboard, etc. Anybody else is experiencing this? The specs are pretty decent so I guess it's a badly optimized OS. I've used MIUI before and I liked it so I'm kinda disappointed.
yeah I bought this recently too. specs are all good but not optimized at all. device is slow but doesn't bother me much

I've been playing with it for about an hour now, didn't install many apps though (just a few basic ones).

It does have some lags like you said (drawer, keyboard, opening apps...), but I find it alright for that price point.
Yeah, the CPU should handle that a bit better, but MIUI 12 isn't really known to be a light Android skin. I don't think they made much optimization for the M3, it's probably the same as the more powerful POCOs.

Overall it's fine imo, but I agree it should be better for the hardware inside.

As a small update, I might add that after using it for a bit longer some of the lag went away, but it's still quite slow to open apps and do multi-tasking.
Thanks for your reply! I know the phone is super cheap and I shouldn't expect too much from it, but I've used MIUI before on even worse hardware and it was pretty smooth, so I was surprised by the lag. Nice phone otherwise(except camera which is pretty bad IMO). I didn't use it too much since it's not my main phone, but I'm going to use it more maybe it will get better. I'm also doing a hard reset. I hope it will get LineageOS soon, that would be awesome.

Yeah I see your point. I'm a Poco F2 Pro & X3 NFC user, so I also find the phone quite laggy, but it is acceptable in my opinion. But I do hope they will make some updates to improve performances, even just a bit.

(I recommend checking out the GCam thread I made for the camera, it gave me quite some decent results)
