Hey

Made a (proper) poll with the best launchers out there. Lets see what some of you use on your HTC Desire Z and why.

Thanks

Edit: I almost put Motorola Motoblur, Samsung TouchWiz and Sony Ericsson UX as options as well but I realized this was for the HTC Desire Z only.

I have used LPP for the longest time now. But switched to GO Launcher just a few days back because LPP didn't work quite as well as GO in the rom I am using. But now that I have used GO for a short while I'm starting to like it. It has some more customization options and generally it just suits me better it seems.

However it's not as clean in its animations. Some of the screen transitions are very smooth and others not so. Sticking with one that is.

A Week ago, I was tired of HTC Sense and so close to choosing another Launcher..

But Sense 3.0 renewed my love to HTC Sense ;-)

Well, on Sense-ROMs I always used Zeam because of the lacking amount of RAM on our Zee. On CM7 I use ADW EX because it is absolutely stable for me, it is fast, easy to customize and it has received really good updates in the close past, AND because of the hidden dock of course.
LPP I was using also for some time - it was for me just never that stable as ADW is now - it doesn't get updates more than twice a year, the complete rewrite was promised months ago... and I do not need those LPP-Widgets because I got better ones myself; all in all it seems as if the author concentrates on the widgets too much..

I'd use launcherpro for some time on my old galaxy 5. On my new phone I used first sense, then I flashed CM 7, running with adw, but I found adw to be laggy as hell, even at 1500 mhz. So I switched to GO. So far I think it's great for vision/desire z.

Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App

In my opinion, the only thing LauncherPro has going for it is the widgets in the Plus version. ADW EX is my preference because it's smooth, and very customizeable. I love being able to swipe my finger up or down anywhere on the screen to open the app drawer or notifications.

And before someone comes along and says ADW is laggy, I want to clarify that ADW ≠ ADW EX. ADW EX has the code re-written and doesn't lag in the slightest, even at stock speeds.

+1 for ADW EX

Much better than the free version which does have a pretty decent amount of lag. Love how customizable ADW EX is. Definitely doesn't have the great widgets like LP but its a great launcher, well worth the 3 bucks.

Sense for sure.
I hate the lag when starting up the resource intensive apps, but several things make Sense the Launcher for me:
  • Clock app with timer and alarms just looks nice
  • Photo grid/Photo Album widget (no other widgets like that around)
  • Contacts widget using Facebook *without* a 3rd party syncing software
  • Calendar/Agenda App and Widget are well polished
  • Camera App looks MUCH nicer than Stock Android
  • Weather App and Widget actually locating me properly instead of having to type in a city code
  • Bookmarks Widget looks and feels nice - all others just seem spartan and badly designed
