This just started happening to me -- three times in less than a day. Stock ROM, rooted, bloatware removed, no lag fix. Going to uninstall the last couple of apps I installed to see if that makes a difference.

Forget the app approach. Exchange the phone.

Shutdowns

I've had mine for two days. Bought it from Amazon Wireless. It shuts down every ten minutes when sittting still on a full charge. I am going to have to wait two weeks for a repacement. Tried hard reset no luck. Very dissapointed in Samsung as my last phone was the Epix. I should have learned.

I've had mine since launch day and had one random reboot and it was caused by market place...stock rom, rooted and ext2 speed hacked.

Had mine for a little over a week. I'm still running stock everything and I haven't had a single problem with shutdowns or gps. Yes my gps actually works and generally locks in 10-15 seconds. I'm just lucky I guess.

Not on jh2 rooted with old super root, market fix, mobile ap, and circle battery.

Did have random reboots with jh2 and jh3 with sre over clocking on and set cpu.

never had one until this week. both happen when i was asleep. woke up, phone was off. running COG 2.2b4 & 2.2b5 when these happened.

traded iphone for it, no returning to the store for me.

Looks like im the first one to say that ive never had problems until the new froyo leak. Had the phone since just after launch. Never overclocked. Hopefully the official froyo will be all good.

Got my first Captivate on 9/20, even stock after a full charge and taken off the USB cable, it would not wake up after a few minutes...every time. Battery drained down to 92% or less it would quit doing it. Full recharge, same issue when pulled off the charging cable. Swapped it out 9/27, second Captiviate was actually a lower serial number than previous unit, battery date was the same, and I assume from the same batch. Same issue as the first...everytime I removed it from full charge it would not wake up from sleeping after a few minutes of being locked.

Updated to Cognition w/Froyo and not a single shut down since. Been a couple weeks now.

Got mine on launch day.
I have flashed pretty much every ROM that has been thrown up for this device.

Not a single random reboot that I am aware of...

Its weird had the phone for a month and everything was great. Now every so often I go look at my phone and its off. Im taking Jacks advice and getting a replacement, only issue is having to deal with Wirefly, sent them an email today and I am waiting on a reply with there answer.

Yes! Me too. Iwake up and its off i had to use my old alarm clock. A couple restarts within the last week but no biggie. Im convinced its the leaked version though

happened to me twice around the first two weeks... cleaned the battery side and phone side terminals.. reset the battery... no problem again for at least six weeks now

...and btw this also happened on my htc touch on one point.. and was resolved the same way

Tried that. Didn't work.
This might sound nuts. But I only get them when the alarm is on. Wont have any issues all day until I set it for morning. Anyone else?

Had my phone for almost 2 weeks and not one random shutdown as of yet..
My phones build date is July 13th.. Wasn't there a "bad batch" or something with this problem?

now say i bought my phone not from at&t, actually traded my iphone 3GS via craigslist. i probably have no option to trade in (my now cappy that they have no idea i own) for a new one?
