Also the sound can be a bit eliminated by turning off the touch tones under Settings > Sound > touch tones. Once that is disabled the pop won't occur at almost every button press anymore, but will still occur with sounds and stuff
I flashed the boot image file with the latest soak test and it works. Remember, you have to have an unlocked bootloader in order to flash the boot image. Those who don't have an unlocked bootloader, better unlock BEFORE applying the soak test or you will never be able to unlock or root your phone. Will this file still work after I update when the new update rolls out soon. Is there going to be a new boot img file that is going to be needed because files have changed with this new version ?I don't want to flash this same file again after I update if its will cause problems.
Thx, yes I unlocked my current phone and backup maxx hd the day it was announced . It is strange that my current phone does not have the popping problem but my backup made the popping sounds before this fix. I was worried that the img file for the fix contains an old file that would not be compatible with new update.I flashed the boot image file with the latest soak test and it works. Soak test patches the bootloader unlock exploit as well as towelroot. You have been warned.
Awesome!Just a notice: the fix has been merged to CM11 and will be effective from the next nightly build.

Turn on touch sounds in the sound settings, as well a sounds when locking and unlocking the phone. Then, once that's all done, click the power button to turn off the screen. You should hear the normal click sound when locking the screen, but just before that, if you have a phone affected by this, you should hear what sounds like a static electricity pop. Same when you click the power button again to turn the screen back on and unlock it.Whats a good and quick way to test for the popping noise? As I usually have the keypad and dial pad sounds off.
Thanks, my Droid RAZR HD Maxx XT926 with a assembly date of 10/12/2012 doesn't appear to have this problem after trying it, although I have replaced the screen and the lower half of the phone recently, only thing original is the camera and the circuit board so maybe it might have to do with everything else other than the circuit board. I had to keep swapping parts every 7-10 months since getting the phone on 10/31/2012 as the battery keeps getting swollen and pops the entire back open so this is basically the second time it happened except it always takes 3-4 Certified Like New Replacements before I get one that doesn't have physical cosmetic defects.Turn on touch sounds in the sound settings, as well a sounds when locking and unlocking the phone. If you don't hear it, then your phone is not affected by this. Not all phones had this issue.
You didn't state if you replaced the battery. If you haven't, it would be prudent that you do. That is a sign of a bad battery. My OG Droid RAZR MAXX had that problem. I took it into Verizon and they replaced it via warranty and that's how I got the razr HD. Definitely not something to keep using if it's swelling. I replaced everything except the circuit board and camera. The first time it happened was in October 2013 which I went through 4 replacements before I got a good back. The second time it happened was in July 2014 so I usually replaced the back and the battery and I'm on the third replacement, finally the battery has the name of a manufacturer under the Made in China part on the bottom portion unlike the earlier ones which were always made in 2012, this one is from December 2013 . I noticed that it seems like some of the backs and fronts have a 2013 and 2014 date stamped on them so it may be a newer revision than the original HD Maxx I had other than the circuit board and camera which is from my original RAZR HD Maxx, everything else is swapping the parts out.You didn't state if you replaced the battery. Is there any change of applying this to the XT925 KK boot image?@iBolski could you please test http://d-h.st/vre ? Thanks.
Can you pls also modified the new kernel of razr m xt 907 uodated in new update 183.46.15. Pls i was using your kernel but i applied the ota update and now it again started producing popping noise ......... I also have boot image extracted if you want i can give you the boot imageFor unlocked bootloader only!
Boot images for XT926 and XT907 stock kitkat:
XT926: http://d-h.st/vre
XT907: http://d-h.st/KXA
Both boot images contain the recompiled stock kitkat kernel with increased sleep time after lineout PA enable, as in this commit: https://github.com/CyanogenMod/andr...mmit/1212f2e043341016cacd6b0d93435380750bd78e
To be flashed via fastboot:
orCode:fastboot flash boot bootXT926speakerfix.img
Please note that I don't own xt926 nor xt907, so I can't verify that the boot images boot at all, nor that they actually fix the issue.Code:fastboot flash boot bootXT907speakerfix.img
(xt897 haven't got an official kitkat update yet, and it's possible that it won't happen for Photon Q at all.)
Be prepared to flash the stock kitkat boot.img in case of a failure if you're going to test this. You've been warned.
Please let me know how it works for you, thanks.
EDIT: links updated to correctly re-packed boot images. xt926 image confirmed to be booting and fixing the issue by iBolski.
