To each his own. Sprint had a model that didnt have anything connected so I was able to play around with the note 2 with no wires attached. Pretty sure after you toy around with it you will be hooked, so maybe it is better if you dont go lol
I've thought about it, I just don't know where the closest Sprint store is, and I'm not going to just go out to look at a phone. If I go to a mall somewhere and see one before VZW releases it, I'll be sure to stop by just to look at it and play around.

That's what I did when I was at the mall, lol. But yeah, you could go by ATT soon too and check it out I suppose, or go to Tmobile as well. Idk if best buy has it yet, but they always take the stylus out.

I'm sure you will buy it though haha. Now that I've used the device it is like I know exactly what I'm missing out on.

Picking up in store.
My sister picks up the tab on the bill and has had me on a legacy Alltel plan just voice and some texts for $10/mo extra. She and her husband are on unlimited data, but they're switching to the Share Everything plan, so I'm getting this to use for the same monthly bill. First time having a smartphone in service, I want to make sure it's one I'll keep for a while. :)
Also, I know it's highly unlikely for a pre-order item, but maybe there will be a BF/CM deal on it. Who knows? A guy can hope.
I would definitely vote against Shared Everything, especially if they are coming from unlimited. 4GB is $70, they are paying $60 for unlimited. That's just awful.
Unless they need the subsidized phone upgrades, or use a lot of minutes.
I would keep it simply out of principle, even if I didn't need unlimited data.

There is an AT&T store right across the road, I may walk over and see if they have one this weekend.

I will be pre-ordering but I can't until Black Friday the 23rd, though I may just roll into the store and see what I can get out of them that day.

I would do it soon. it looks like some of the AT&T preorders got pushed back. meaning supply did not meet the demand, so yeah... people were saying that there was a limited supply in store, too.

Why are they switching to the share everything plan? Tell them to keep it. I think 4gb shared is $50... my unlimited plan is 29.99, so x2 is only $10 more for no data restriction.

I finally went to a VZW store and got all the details. They are shutting down merged Alltel services on Verizon, which means my phone won't work from January on. This means I have to upgrade to a VZW phone and that means my plan has to change. They threw in a $50 credit toward an upgrade with a two year renewal from the date I upgrade... which is pretty much offset by the $30 upgrade charge.

The most affordable way (it costs a little less than it does now) to keep my phone on the line is to switch to the Shared Everything plan. The store's assistant manager said if I call a day ahead, he can probably reserve one for me. So, in a way, I'll be pre-ordering for $279.99. He also told me that they never do Black Friday deals on pre-order devices. That's one goal I can cross off my list.

While you will have to get a Verizon phone, your plan doesn't have to change (unless you want a phone at a subsidized price or unless you never had a smartphone plan on Alltel). I'll still using an old Alltel plan and, as you can tell from my signature, I've had a lot of Verizon phones (some of which were upgrades). This was something that was a big mess for a lot of people after Verizon took over most of Alltel's network. A lot of reps were telling people that they had to switch to a Verizon plan if they wanted a Verizon phone. But that was never actually the case. You could get a Verizon phone and keep your Alltel plan. Things are a little different now since people have to change plans if you want a subsidized phone with a new 2 year contract, but that's the same for everyone regardless of their old plan (and regardless of being on an Alltel plan or Verizon plan). Assuming you already have data as part of your Alltel plan, you can keep your old Alltel plan if you buy a Verizon phone at full retail or on the secondary market.

cant preorder

I cant preorder and add to my account, I asked why for 6 days in a row on verizons twitter support account and finally after me threatning to close and move my account they then answered with of course an absurd answer.
They said Quote " We definitely don't want to lose you! Billing to the acct is not available for iconic devices^TB
So I asked since they claimed it was a socalled bigdeal iconic device, then why didnt they have an event such as their future HTC-DNA Event.
No Reply,
So I will have to wait, if you think the store will be quicker, then I will go there!!!

I never did have a Smartphone or data plan with Alltel. I currently have a Samsung Double Take with just voice. I can text or picture message from it, but it costs per message, iirc. Thanks for the info, though.

I just wanted to make sure. After the merger, a lot of people lost their superior Alltel plans because they were misled by reps who said they had to switch to a Verizon plan to use a Verizon phone. But if you never had a smartphone and Alltel data plan, you will need a new plan. :)
