No they have different chip sets. Mine when I query it says it is from 1997 I have only seen one other person mention having it. I think that is why different roms behave differently for different people.
Wow! I guess 1997 can't be a typo for 2007.
Were they even making chips for these things back then? (When did Jobs come up with the iPad?)
Amazing. When I was working as a production engineer, I'd see different vendor versions of an IC in our products. (Which sometimes caused failures, because on vendor didn't meet the slew rate spec for an OpAmp). But I never saw a completely different chip set, per se, for a product.
I wonder if yours was a prototype unit?
What tool did you use to query the chip set? (Or is this going to be an arcane Unix command that I'll have to run in Terminal?

First thing I did when I bought my CPO a few weeks ago was to check the emmc chip for the
(TRIM) brick bug. I have the MGA, but it was an Oct 2012 issue. (Sane.) As the HD+ was released in Nov 2012, the dates make sense. But 1997?
