Thanks for your response. :D
I agree with you about that they are a little bit too slow to release it. They are saying the end of the year :(
I do think that the other half is durable enough. They are ex-Nokia people so they know how to make durable stuff.

I bought the N9, and loved that phone, but drawbacks for me where that the lag started to kick in after a while, general UI lag, and lack of certain applications. other than that it was perfect. I love the swiping thing, hence why I really like pie controls. LTE is nice and all, but I need decent battery life without switching batteries, real multitasking, and something that I enjoy using.

also the other half stuff, fingers crossed for keyboard accessory I loved the N900

Install fastern9 if you want your phone to always be responsive.

I think it's a great phone, but I don't have money and I just got my s3 also *tears*

What do you think of "The Other Half"?
I think it is an interesting idea.
I love the possibility to change my back-cover, and implementing functions to is it sounds fun.
And for people who do not like to change their back-covers, they don't have to.

Makes it look interesting and strange at the same time.

It's a cool concept, could be a complete success with useful features or just a big gimmick.
Yeah.
They need to make it interesting, so that many people would use the features. And when there is big userbase, other manufacturers start making their own innovations based on "The other half"(I mean other halves with different functionalities).

Sorry if the english is kinda bad. I couldn't find better words when writing this :D

I agree with you. If they release a Other Half with a keyboard for example, then there will be a lot of people interested I think.

it's good to see that xda is giving positive response to the jolla phone. hopefuly, "the other half" will not be a gimmick as the half of the phone depends on this. :)
think of it in this way: apple products has stuff like docks from connectors etc. this concept is similar to those docks. but portable. :)

So it runs android apps...so is this Android with a launcher thats all over the OS or like BlackBerry where you need a certain runtime and .apks that have to be converted a certain format? Looks interesting, though, and if its the former I wonder how an aftermarket launcher would work :good:

It is more like BlackBerry. SailfishOS is an os based on Meego. Which is based on Linux, just like Android. On top of SailfishOS there is a layer to run Android apps. I hope you can understand my explanation :p

How long will it take to get your hands on this phone?

I think the Jolla phone is somewhat interesting, but I'm not sure I'll ever get to try it out. There will be VERY few of them (like there were very few of the N9, which I still own today). I hope somehow the good ideas can be brought to a wider audience, especially the pully menu idea, which would be great for larger phones and allows a stable grip on the lower half of the device But really all the swipe driven UI features.are pretty slick.

Hopefully, I'll get my hands on one somehow.

In which country do you live? I think that they are doing a fine job for their first phone. They got Europe completely covered and they are even planning on releasing them in China. So I say well done for that. Their are a lot of phones that only come to the US, which is sometimes frustrating :p

LOL. I completely agree that Jolla is doing a good job, but I'm in the State of Texas! So, I'm not sure what the 4G compatibility will be, etc. But phones are my love, so if I can get it, I will.

At least you have 4G. ;) Here in the Netherlands the providers promise to have it at the end of the year. But I suspect that it will be the first quarter. Maybe the second.

Nice, not amazing

The phone itself is nice, not amazing in any way. It looks very plastic-like, and makes me worry about scratches, especially on the glass-front.
The "Other half" is amazing, can be brilliant if executed well - it depends very heavily on manufacturer support.

And yes I have preordered, and will hang on to my N900 until then.
