That's strange AOD barely makes a dent for me.i wonder why it is causing trouble on some and not on others.
Unless people say how much charge their AOD is using, it's hard to know if we're seeing differences in battery consumption or just differences in user tolerance of the same amount of battery consumption. (Mine draws about 26mA while the AOD screen is on.)

I'll turn it back on and check the stats after a full battery cycle.

Here's from the past few hours.

Also keep in mind that different apps use more juice than others. Like Facebook if spend a lot of time on Facebook it will eat your batteries lunch. I noticed that the other day I used Facebook heavy and my battery paid the price. You can use Metal for Facebook and it saves some battery but the app looks better. Also if you use Metal you don't have to install Facebook messenger. That's another battery hog even when you're not on it. I refuse to install messenger.

Oh my god, Facebook. Yes. It's like they engineered to make that the most battery-hungry app ever. I never install that thing on my phones, anymore. I seldom even log into my Facebook and when I do it's exclusively done on my laptop. Ugh, Facebook...

I have no idea what's wrong with my battery. It was completely fine like two days ago. Yesterday, I charged it to 95%. I didn't sleep for another two hours or so, but I didn't really touch my phone either. It was drained to 63% when I woke up. GSAM said it drained 3% per hour, with most of it coming from app usage. I don't know how that's possible. I don't use facebook or anything.

I'm thinking here is a good place to identify some battery hogging culprits. This is from Running Processes in Developer Options. Is there an expert that can advise on freezing Dex processes, Google VR Services, Name ID, Samsung Push? I won't touch anything if advised against it, not knowledgeable in this. I'd try putting them to sleep using Samsung's own process in Battery Settings, then if they don't stay asleep maybe a disabling app.

I have no idea wtf is wrong with my phone. On one day, it'll drain really slowly when idling, maybe 1% or so.
But I charge it and then suddenly it's draining at around 3% on idle? Only thing I can say that I'm doing differently is charging to full on my fast charge and non-fast charge.

Jesus Christ! This battery sucks i can't even get 24hrs like some ppl with 8hrs of screen on time, i fight so hard to get 8hrs of screen on time
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic, but in case you're not: decent battery life for this phone would be 17-20 hours with 3-5 hours screen-on time, WQHD+, all radios on, no convoluted power-saving measures.

I don't know what your needs are, but for me it's sufficient to get through the day (16 hours) on a single charge after recharging overnight. I actually don't need even that much, since I have a wireless charger on my desk and an adapter in my car, so my phone is seldom off a charger for more than a few hours at a time.

Some people may need better battery performance than that, but some others seem to treat battery life as a kind of game score that they're obsessed with maximizing, whether or not it serves any real purpose.

do u mind check your chip quality ?
some said it have some relation with battery usage

turn of your phone -> press and hold bixby+volumedown and then power to boot to ODIN
check CL0, CL1, G3D score
most people seems getting around 6 for both CL0,CL1 (big little cpu) and 3 for GPU

well i dont chip binning causing massive battery different... but if you already tried everything else and still seeing poor battery life, why not take a look of it

personally i think around 5~6hours is normal for note8

I have been getting great battery life. Especially for running at max resolution and screen brightness at 85 wifi and blue tooth getting on a average 6hrs of OST.

I have been into phones for a while now. Every time a new phone comes out we have these threads complaining about poor battery life? Now if you're getting 2hrs of OST something is wrong with your phone obviously. But 4 to 8hrs of OST is not bad. Not trying to get on people but enjoy your phone stop worrying about the battery life. With my V20 I would be lucky to get 3 1/2hrs of OST it did not bother me it still lasted me all day. On my Note8 I am getting around 6hrs of OST I am happy. If I was getting 3 I would still be happy. This is a awesome phone and I enjoy it.

My battery has been complete trash. It's draining over 1% per hour on idle. I don't use facebook. I use a Fitness pal app widget, wechat, and only have a few emails coming in every few hours. Bixby disabled with bk disabler, but wifi and location are on. I'm factory resetting for the third time. This time I will only transfer contacts and calendar over. If the battery drain persists, I'm going to see if I can get a refund because this is absolutely ridiculous.

Update from last week battery has gone worse again but I'm at the point that if I need to disable the features which make this phone what it is then I might as well sell it and buy an oldschool Nokia. In other words everything is on and I'm just going to enjoy it.
Keeping AOD off and using BK has really helped improve things immensely. I also use Greenify.
Stupid question but what's BK?

I'm guilty! I'm either at my desk with wireless charger, in my car with fast car charger, or at home with wireless charger. I don't spend more than 4-5 hours somewhere where I don't have access to a charger.
However it still gets under my skin when I see wild battery drop. I think I have deeper underlying issues I should attend to lol.
