How is the quality of this compared to stock TW Roms? I found the aosp cameras to be slightly worse than the tw counterparts but aosp is a much better experience overall, and this mod might as well mean that I should take the jump over to aosp :p

Thanks for the great port! I really have been wanting someone to ported Stock TW camera on AOSP, and it happened. :good:
I hope you will be able to fix camcoder. Good luck!

The BEST ported app ever made for the GS3. Period. Together with Spirit FM, now I can have the full experience with an AOSP Rom. TW, never more

Thank you all for the comments :D

Will you ever release this on other variants like sprint? I would love to try, looks great.

The Qualcomm and Exynos chips used by the US and international S3 respectively are very different, so the files included in my mod will not work.

I think you might be able to create a similar patch through taking the same files from the Sprint TW ROM, but it's hard for me to say because I'm not familiar with it at all. Also, has TW 4.2 been leaked yet for the US models? I'm not sure if taking the libraries from 4.1.2 and putting them into 4.2.2 would go well... :x

I think it's quite hard to objectively compare the quality of photos taken by both cameras. You would have to guarantee that the phone was positioned exactly the same way, the light sources have not changed, ...

I have been using this camera for close to a week now, I've taken over 300 pictures and I can't really notice any difference in overall quality compared to my previous ones (on TW 4.1.2).

Thanks for the great port! I really have been wanting someone to ported Stock TW camera on AOSP, and it happened. :good:

You're welcome :) Unfortunately, I don't expect the camcorder to really be fixable... with my previous ROM mods I got as far as having it start up and begin recording, but the counter stayed stuck at 00:00:00 and it wouldn't actually save any file.

In the next few days, I may try some experiments with swapping over the files responsible for video recording, but I suspect that Samsung may have changed too many things in that department...

I'm guessing flash the Rom again

He has released the standalone version.
You can use it on any ROM.

So, all you will need to do is delete the SamsungCamera.apk from system/app and push in any AOSP camera app. The AOSP camera apps will usually be named Gallery2.apk or GoogleGallery.apk..
If you have a ROM package, just open it with winrar or any archiving app, extract the file and push it to system/app. DOne. ;)

If you want to fully remove this mod and revert your system to how it was before, you will have to flash your ROM again or restore a backup.

However, you don't need to restore the AOSP Camera/Gallery because this mod doesn't remove or replace it-- if you install the mod you will have both apps available with separate icons, and they will both work :D
