Me too i cannot really understand. Is the new one better in performance, why? And about what? So the rom with new baseband are better?

The difference I noticed was that on old baseband, 3G signal was poor and on new baseband it was much better,,

It'll make support for us devs a bit more complicated as we'll now have four possible roms to support
Could it be a solution to have just two roms as :

  • Old Baseband, .32 Kernel
  • New Baseband, .35 Kernel

That would leave the more stable branch on the old baseband and .32 kernel, while the more "experimental" branch would incorporate both .35 kernel and the new baseband.

thanks for all the hard work
bye

if the new baseband is better then the roms with old one will die by itself..
anyway installation is easyer anyways for the new users noo need to take the risk and flash old baseband and risk bricking your phone
True! This would benefit a lot of people here, including me ofcourse. Great start!

What about the problem new baseband had with 3G resulting in the phone not going to deep sleep?
I think this is a problem with .35 kernel with certain ROM's and not baseband's.
I had this before on Oxygen ROM. It would never go to deep sleep and it would drain a lot of battery.
I used to have stock gingerbread rom and it would go to deep sleep just fine.

I have read somewhere that it was likely related to the baseband.

Besides this, I recently tried back the stock ROM for the brazilian LGP500H (they released in November 22 V20B_00.kdz) and had this wakelock problem with the 3G (now I'm wondering why you didn't have it and I did)

Did you left it on 'only 2G'? Cause that seems to solve it. I'm fine with the 2G speeds, but I happen to have a very unreliable 2G network on Vivo carrier. The connection is there all the time, but very often it just doesn't respond the requests the browser or apps make. That's why I force the use of 3G.

If it's really a kernel or ROM problem, then it's great news for those hoping to have a 'new baseband + .35 kernel' ROM.

Just out of curiosity, what exactly did you do to get it working?
Is it based mostly of adfad666 port or mik_os?
As first post says the main base is the CM7 nightly 0 for the E510 by CM dev rmcee, I patched it with:

-V20H boot.img + adfad´s cm7 f1 ramdisk (which i had to mod a little)
-V20H files following this file from mik_os
-Some hw libs from mik's CM7 6.61
-Some other customizations to make stuff working.

Both devices are very similar and CM is intended to work on lots of devices so it wasn't that hard to make things to work.

I know that the CM7 users in this forum looooooove old baseband mostly because all the ROMs based on miks sources (or mik's research work) are on old baseband but theres people who don't like to go back to old baseband just to try CM7 (like me) and thats why I started with this.

So far so good, data working, no bugs as of now. Only issue that I am facing is that phone is not showing correct baseband version.......normal with CM?
