I had the same problem. You can solve this problem by flashing ' TWRP-3.1.1' available in this posts [ROM][7.1.2][UNOFFICIAL][SM-J210F] LineageOS 14.1 and then try flashing Gapps. Also this recovery is recommended by Nullcode on 1st page under heading 'installation instructions' of this post [PORT] [ROM] ViperOS Coral 3.1.1 For SM-J210F [Android 7.1.2].

porting upstream is impossible.

however I do think it is possible to compile the rom by using that tree as a big base
(very possible in fact. because everything aside from the screen etc is a carbon copy of our device)
compiling lineageOS 15 requires 200gb at minimum... even if my laptop was fully empty, I would still not have enough storage

hmm the CPU is a problem. i think those are too old
I got 8GB RAM and the only limiting factor is my CPU (i3 5th Gen and another laptop with i5 4th Gen) and my HDD. I have 400+GB storage free.
may be flashtechman3214 you can port this oreo rom or build it or compile. Or may be Nullcode bro can buy new ssd!?

teamwin has still not accepted my patches to fix this issue......

use this recovery (TWRP ver. 3.6.2) custom build by me fixed everything
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...g-galaxy-j2-2016-j2xlte.4224479/post-86861645

also wipe data before flashing gapps

ViperOS port from the Galaxy J3 2016 to the Galaxy J2 2016

    Working:

My day to day usage works flawlessly [for any bugs send logcat]

    Patches made:
    Made it boot
    Power Button
    FM Radio
    Multi User

    Known Bugs:
It tells you that your device is a J3 [as it is a port]
Brightness cannot be adjusted [FIX: Here]

    Download link: MEGA
GAPPS: OpenGAPPS [ARM 7.1 Pico or Nano]
    Patch Link: MEGA

    Installation Instructions:
    1. At first, enable OEM Unlocking and USB Debugging in Developer Options
    2. Flash TWRP [I recommend my 3.6.x one]
    3. Reboot Recovery
    4. Make backups [Don't blame me if you lose anything]
    5. Now, wipe everything [Dalvik Cache; Cache; Data and System]
    6. Install ViperOS
    7. Flash GAPPS [Optional]
    8. Reboot recovery and flash the patch
    9. Wipe cache/dalvik
    10. Reboot System

    Very important credits:
    djeman [Main J3 Developer]
iamsj7 [for updating security patch of ViperOS]
and obviously, me [so don't forget to thank please]

Notes: This ROM has Full OMS Support and Substratum Theme Interfacer Support
It also has full signature spoofing support [so you can also set up microG without patching anything]

Original Link for J3 ROM: XDA Developers

    Thank for the port Nullcode🙏
stable rom and it's working good
Brightness cannot be adjusted & there is no volte option please fix these also

To fix brightness, you need to go to Settings: Display: Brightness and turn off Auto Brightness
    That will fix the problem

If that doesn't fix the problem, Download and set up Platform Tools from Google, connect your phone and type this command:
adb shell settings put system screen_brightness_mode 0

Also about VOLTE, it cannot be implemented in custom ROMs
Only stock ROM has that feature

can you pls port android 8 to j2xlte (j210f) every rom is just 7.1.2 nougat
