Possible reason for the update delays

Dying WWW bgr com just posted a report that the 4g vibrant has 2.3 not 2.2... with pics. So I'm thinking this is rubbish.

the vibrant is GSM so that might explain that. the GSM Europe versions got 2.2 in the 4Q last year. so there is no reason to not believe the newer GSM phones would come out with 2.3.

It is easier to hide posting on a forum than it is sending a tip into an online news outlet, at least in general. Also, by posting it in a forum, it is entirely likely that it will be up for longer than it would be if posted at say, Engadget, because it takes longer for news to show up in major outlets if posted in a forum first as opposed to a news site. If it were posted at Engadget or another tech blog, they are likely watched over very closely for potential NDA breaches, etc. I doubt Samsung looks are random forums/subforums/threads nearly as close.

You can bet that rumor has been tipped to every major blog out there (I mean come on, look at how fast it's spread here).

And you're mistaken if you think the forum affords you anonymity. This forum software stores IP addresses, the ones you registered with, and all the ones you've used to post, also has his email. While I doubt Samsung reads every thread, you can bet this site is perused by reps from each of the companies and carriers represented because of it's size, and relative importance to the owners of the devices. That thread would raise an eyebrow.

Forums arguably offer you less anonymity than tipping a news site does. There's no precedent for protection of sources that I know of like there is in the news realm.
