I was faced with the the same thing a few weeks back. Should i return it or hope for a recovery. I choose to keep it, Honeycomb is rock solid and Acer said the ICS is coming in Jan. So I kept it.

Like I said, hopefully it works out. I was beginning to think it was never going to happen, so I decided to ask a dev if he would try to get one going. He doesn't himself have an a100, so we will prob have to test it out for him. Either way it is a good tab and we have root, so I am satisfied either way.

Unfortunately, there's no root for those that came with 3.2.1... :(

Would it be possible to downgrade the software to what it was on the first initial release of the A100 through maybe an ruu to obtain root

ummmmm............ could you repeat that?

We're basically waiting on the ICS update to our A100. Not really any point in doing anything with these til we obtain root with 4.0. If we root now, the update will break root until our genius devs figure out how to crack it. No point in rooting now when you'll have to re-root 2 months later.

ummmmm............ could you repeat that?

No, you would still get the update, but updating will unroot your device, and in some cases, you would never be able to root that device again, but that may not apply to the A100, haven't heard of that happening for a while on the latest devices.

ummmmm............ could you repeat that?

Sorry man, I really don't mean to offend, but I need you to break that whole statement down for me.
Are you saying that there is a tester port of amon ra recovery for the A100? Are you seeking people to test and see if it works? And who do we have to "private message" to participate in this test?

ummmmm............ could you repeat that?

Ok, I think I know what you're asking. I don't think much progress has been made on a recovery, but I wouldn't expect to see one ready until Android 4.0 is released

Just a noobie question,

Why is there no recovery on the a100? is it because acer change something on the a100, or just because as 6stringandy said, dev want to wait 4.0 before starting to make a custom recovery?

and what is different from the a500 to the a100 that make the recovery unable to work?

It's just for personal interest :)

    I need your help...
One of my friend has this beauty, he has succefully done the rooring process, and decided to use the Acer Recovery Installer from Market, wich was a crazy idea as
this tool flashed(?) the A500' recovery for his device.
So right now he is not able to switch his tablet, can'tgo to recovery, can't revert back to a stock rom.(He got this message, when try to go to recovery:"Recovery verified failed...Spin forever")Is there a way to revert back to the stock recovery?
    Any help is appreciated...

    Download recovery View attachment recovery.zip
    unzip it,
    put in to SDCard, (mnt/external_sd)
run Acer Recovery installer and choose Custom or stock recovery from micro sdcard
    press Install Recovery Image

    or
    open a terminal and type
    Code:
    su
    dd if=/mnt/external_sd/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p1
    2
It's a different bootloader, so the A500 method won't work. Also, the bootloader from the 3.2 update on the A500 hasn't been broken yet, either.

I saw your post in the Dev Section on that. Which was why I turned OFF the Auto Update Feature!

    thanks for that.

Sounds logical. Same protocol was used in some roots for the Transformer a while back.

Check this thread. Stock ROMs for the A100 posted up.
