possible to sideload from L16 to L18?

hello, iam wondering can i hust sideload Lineage 18.1 from running L16? will it all work?

if I manage to make this sideload and upgrade to 18, will this method make new 18 rom boot with all previously on 16 installed apps and settings or it will be just blank rom?

ok no answers, I guess I'll just have to try it and see.. but got also another question please

After doing sideload another rom, does that work as ''upgrade'' to current rom or it works like installing it from blank?
Iam wondering if this sideload suceeds , will I still hav e my current apps installed in new rom?

well, I manager to sideload L18.1, and it booted, but when it booted it can't recognise my sim card, and can't connect to any wireless network it doesn't see any..
So I give up..
