nothing, u cant root or downgrade.. i guess wait until something else comes along lol
So that means the October patch makes a permanent change that can't be reverted? Oh yeah right... Wake up people. Lol Do not do the update if you have any thoughts of eventually rooting this thing!!

If I may ask, what exactly can someone do with this the temp root state at this point as a regular user??

It also makes finding a way to unlock the BL easier since now we aren't restricted to using the binary, which is inconvenient to say the least.

Both Magisk and Busybox also provide tools that have helped me speed up development a bit.

Temp root question....
I just want to enable hotspot....

Will it persist through a reboot?
To clarify, I use temp root to change build.prop the build.prop change will not persist after reboot?
DO NOT change the build.prop. Since the bootloader is still locked, this will brick your phone.
Is there a way to use the systemless root to symlink a temp build.prop outside of /system with the net.tethering.noprovisioning=true policy?

It wouldn't persist across reboots still

Presuming the Temporary Magisk Root is running a full version of magisk someone should be able to program a magisk module no different than the systemless adblocking hosts file, for the build.prop too.

I hope so . . . but is anyone currently working on BL unlock?
I have a Verizon refurb that I recently got.
It was actually a new phone manufactured July of this year. I was able to unlock the bootloader using the factory reset activate sim and remove before setting up method.. from the thread on here. I have it rooted and on my Verizon page it doesn't recognize what kind of phone it is. It still functions properly.
My question is is there something I can look for to help you guys figure out what's allowing the bootloader unlock on the Verizon model?

I hope it gets figured out for you guys.
It's too late for you to try now but I followed what the guy on that thread suggested and did it with the July 2019 build and it worked. Not sure if it's phone dependent or build dependent but I did have success. It came with the May build and I tried several times and it didn't work prior to having success with July build.

Many of us are trying to understand some of the processes involved. It would be a nice addition to have an unlocked one to compare things.

Anyone, feel free to join the telegram group (mentioned here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80487013&postcount=38).

yes.. if you run "getprop | grep pst" you will see the bit is stored at offset 6144 on misc partition...

the switch when toggled on sets the bit to 01..

you still need to go into fastboot and run the oem unlock commands..

if it still doesnt allow it then further digging is needed..

ive had a group open since p2xl launched for unlock discussion on tgram..

i no longer have a p2xl however.. if anyone has one and wants to test then pm me for a link.. i did a lot of testing back then so maybe we can get it going sooner rather than later
I have a pixel 2 xl and I'm very interested in unlocking the bootloader. I want to test and im interested in this link you spoke up. I have the temp root running. Also, for some reason I cannot pm you directly.
